2. PURPOSE: The purpose of the second Transnational Project Meeting was to establish a common action plan for the

finalisation of the guide, elaboration of final report, communication among partners.

3. OBJECTIVES: - To negotiate responsibilities among partners for the final report;

- To present the work of each partner and the structure of the final product;

- To establish the deadlines for the submission of the reporting documents;

- To discuss final steps – what has been done, what is yet to be done;

- To get acquainted with the system of education, cultural and geographical features of the host

partner country.

4. AGENDA: The activities were organised in accordance with the proposed objectives. As such, the meeting agenda

was devised as follows:

5. ACTIVITY DETAILS

Day 1: Tuesday, 1 May 2018, 9.00-14.30.

Objective: promoting the region and the county of İstanbul

Day 1 consisted of a sightseeing tour of İstanbul which comprised tourist attractions such as The Aya

Sophia, The Topkapı Palace, Blue Mosque.

Day 2: Wednesday, 2 May 2018

Objectives:

- To get to know the partners, their culture, the system of education, school practices.

- To present the work of each partner and the structure of the final product;

Day 2 started with a welcoming ceremony organised by the hosts, which consisted of welcoming

speeches on the part of the headmaster and the coordinator. The speeches were followed by an artistic

programme which included Turkish folk dances and songs.

The partners were welcomed by the headmaster and invited to a private school of the same type, a

general secondary school. Discussions were held with the headmaster and other teachers in the school in

which participants found out about the timetable, the curriculum, extracurricular activities and assisted

several ongoing lessons – primary lesson, music lesson, English lessons.

Partners also conversed with some students who were quite competent in the English language.

This was followed by a project meeting in which the work of each partner on the guide was presented and

the final draft of the contents of the guide for initiating film clubs was sketched in agreement with all

partners.

In the second part of the day, participants visited other places of cultural interest - the Maiden's

Tower, Çamlıca Hill.

After the visits, participants were welcomed by school owner in his office, where he gave them a

welcoming speech and discussed issues related to the education system in each country. The day ended

with a dinner in a traditional restaurant organised by the school owner.

Day 3: Thursday, 3 May 2018, 9.00-15.00

Objectives:

- To negotiate responsibilities among partners for the final report;

- To establish the deadlines for the submission of the reporting documents;

- To discuss final steps – what has been done, what is yet to be done in the final stage of the

project.

The partners organised a meeting to discuss the project final reporting procedure – the work flow

and the reporting procedure, to establish a communication strategy, submission of the evaluation

documents, collection and transmission of data for the study impact.

The meeting was followed by a guided sightseeing tour of several attractions - Visit to the Synagogue,

Church and Suleymaniye Mosque, as well as a visit to the Grand Bazaar.

Day 4: Friday, 4 May 2018

The final day was dedicated to the conclusions of the meeting and of the project. The host school

and the coordinator presented participants with certificates of attendance.

Visit to the District Directorate of National Education and welcoming by the Director. The visit to the

District Directorate of National Education was hosted by the Director of Sultangazi. The meeting

commenced with a brief presentation of the project, partner schools and purpose of TM2. The Director

conducted a discussion on the importance of such initiatives for the development of the community. In

the end, participants were invited to ask questions and to give their opinion of İstanbul, as first-time

visitors to our city.

The week concluded with a farewell traditional Turkish party, which gave participants the opportunity to

experience some of the Turkish dances and music.
