TIMARU DISTRICT URBAN FIRE BAN Due to the extreme fire hazard in the Timaru District, Timaru District Council is imposing a fire ban within the urban areas of the District, this includes Timaru, Pleasant Point, Temuka and Geraldine. As the South Canterbury Rural Fire Authority already has a fire ban in the rural areas of the Timaru District this ban in effect means a district wide outdoor fire ban. No solid fuel fires of any kind will be permitted, the only exception to the fire ban will be gas fueled barbecues.
