Vad kan du göra för att öka tilliten där du är, i din familj, på din arbetsplats, skola, i ditt samhälle i ditt land, i världen? Jag tänker börja med att vara ansvarstagande och lita på mitt hjärta och på mig själv.

Jag uppmanar er att göra som oss och stödja Mr Raymond Phil-lips och hans uppfi nning s.4-6, lösningen på energi- och klimat-frågan.

Hi everyone!This is a very special issue of TilliT containing many articles in English mixed with articles in Swedish and even one in Norwe-gian. As usual you will also fi nd the newspaper at www.tillit.info. With the tool ”Google translate” you can read the articles in almost any language.

Isn’t it wonderful that we humans are such great resources and assets in a community and that we have opportunities to grow and take responsibility. Imagine how beautiful it is that everyone can take responsibility for something.

To highlight how easy it is to take responsibility and how ben-efi cial it is to our society, among other things, a new World Bank has been founded, read more about it on p.20-23. Eminent sci-entists and experts have concluded that trust is a key factor for a future sustainable community building. Read more about the scientists and experts own articles such as Rolf Jensen’s article on p.24.

I hope that you will, just as we do, understand that the solution to civil crises, such as climate and war, lies in this reliance and responsibility. It is the concern between individuals and between nations. It applies locally e.g. in a small town in Lapland, p.14, and it applies globally. What can you do to increase trust and reliance in your vicinity, within your family, school, workplace, community, country, and world? I intend to start by being accountable and rely on my heart and on myself.

I encourage you to do as we do and support Mr. Raymond Phil-lips and his invention p.4-6, the solution of the energy and the climate issue.

who has invented a dozen of incredible things, inclu-ding the cordless phone which was invented back in 1956. What an impact this invention has had to billions

of people around the world! TilliT are here to get a uni-que “LIVE” demonstration of Dr. Phillips invention where he is conver-ting radio waves into electricity.It is such a pleasure to meet this man and his big beautiful family at their home in Terrell, which is a 40 minute drive from Dal-las.

Mikael Engström and Arne Lindström were pick-ed up at the Dallas airport by Barbara Caldwell and Ken and Desiree Jones (Th e

daughters of Dr. Phillips as well as his son in law.) Th ey gave us a very friendly welcome and we jumped

into the van. After arriving at the house we met Dr. Phil-lips and his wife Helen who have been mar-ried for 57 years. Alt-hough Dr. Raymond Phillips had

a massive stroke in 2004, it is very touching to see how his family is organized and held together in order to continue to fulfi ll and put the new invention into ac-tion in a very focused way.

Dr. Phillips is leading the work in an astonishing way.

While we are talking with the inventor about the radio waves, there we get understanding that Dr. Phillips has three incredible inventions which generates

energy in new ways. It se-ems like this genius has no limitations at all.

Dr. Phillips would like to change the world, with his Radios Frequency Ener-gy Projects. A lot of people have seen his projects and

few have actually under-stood how it works. He has secured the knowledge, and wants to share and be open about what this technology can actually do.

Th e Facts is, people have seen his demonstrations, but have not understood that the radio waves are picked up from the air. Th e prototype produces a certain amount of electricity, show-ing that the idea is correct that radio waves can be con-verted into electricity. With more advancement in the technological aspects, the potential expectations of the project are unlimited. With the right people, funding, trust and open minds, we plan to go green and secure generations to come.

Th is is a brief descrip-tion of Dr. Phillip´s inven-tion concerning a new

electric generator that is running on electricity con-verted from radio waves. Th is invention can be used in many diff erent appli-cations all over the world. With this new technique, in the near future there will no longer be a need for ordi-nary power stations.

BackgroundAs a young boy, Raymond P. Phillips attended the opening of the Science Fair in the Denver Auditorium in Colorado, USA. His at-tention was drawn to the Nikola Tesla project, which was a man holding a lighted fl uorescent lamp in his hand without wires. Since that day, he was committed to the study of the works of Nikola Tesla. Since 1960, Dr. Phillips has been in

research and development on a device to convert con-ventional radio waves into electrical energy. Th is device brings Tesla´s technology into modern electronics. In 1987, the US Patent Offi ce granted a patent on the device to convert radio waves into electricity. Subsequently, in 1993, a Canadian patent was issued as well to Dr. Phillips on his technology.

Dr. Phillips has over 40 years experience as an engi-neer in radio and television, held secret clearance with the US Government in the fi eld of geophysical science and as an inventor. One of his inventions is the cord-less telephone.

Dr. Phillips has worked as a research scientist at the Atlanta University Center, Morehouse College and

World Energy Systems (GECO); an electronics au-dio engineer at the Universi-ty of Texas, Health Sciences Center; as research and electronic technician at the Southwest Center for Ad-vanced Studies, Geophysics and Geotech Corporation.

Dr. Phillips got an asso-ciate arts degree in science at Southwestern Christian

College and completed his undergraduate work at East Texas State University, where he received a B.S. interdisciplinary degree in Science. He received a ge-neral radio-telephone ope-rator license and a certifi -cate for radio and television broadcasting from Elkins School of Broadcast and Elkins Institute, respective-

ly. Dr. Phillips received his honorary degree of Doctor of Science from Southwes-tern Christian College.

An amazing demonstration:Converting waves in to electricity!

TilliT is in Texas, USA to watch a rare dem-onstration of Dr. Ray-mond Phillips. Five members of the Phil-lips family show us the invention “LIVE”. It is very interesting to see how they prepare the demonstration.

Carlos the grandson has come all the way from Chi-cago bringing some parts of the invention to be a

part of the demonstration. Th e Phillips family is very careful with their inventions and therefore they store dif-ferent parts of the invention in diff erent places.

We are making our own pre-parations with dif-ferent cameras and Internet connections. I am telling them we like to broadcast

It is fas-cinating how Dr. Phillips sitting in his wheelchair transforms in front of his

invention. Th e atmosphere is vibrating. We are happy to watch these men and women performing an art - Th e art of energy. One thing becomes very clear to me at this moment. Th e people in the room inclu-ding our cameraman Arne are showing an unhealthy respect for the word FREE ENERGY. Th ey tell me that it’s forbidden to say that word in the world. It is obvious how important this invention is! It is time for a climate where everybody is able to be totally and unconditionally free. Now the demonstration starts. WHOW! It is working! This is how Dr. Phillips converts radio waves into electricity

1. From an antenna in VHF radio it start up the process.

2. A receiver, with a special Antenna that collect dif-ferent energy from the radio waves.

3. Th en the Converter converts and amplifi es the radio waves into electricity.

4. With the electricity you can run an electric engine, charge battery or run other electric equip-ment.

5. As long as the Golden Globe (Earth) is spin-ning you will always have this kind of energy.

The very best Renewable En-ergy!

Where does the En-ergy come from? First of all we can make a state-ment that we got a lot of energy around the whole Globe. Th is energy has to be caught and converted into electricity we all can use ea-sily. As Dr. Raymond Phil-lips has been working with broadcasting he got a lot of knowledge in how to catch

radio waves and broadcast. Important thing are

the diff erent antennas that collect the energy and then convert it into direct current to run electric engines or just charge batteries etc.

Other renewable energy used by solar panels or wind turbines are depending on sun or wind. Dr. Phillips invention will work all over the world independent of sun or wind.

Dear colleagues in the news industry. TilliT wishes that more editors and jour-nalists take the responsibi-lity and write about people who have solutions to tackle climate change.

I am the minister of Th e West End Church of Christ. I fi rst came to Terrell to visit Southwestern Christian College around 1956, I met Brother Phillips. It was very interesting, I noticed things and it looked like a telephone that came from a telephone booth and house phones and other electrical looking hardware. It looked like he was really fl ying through that stuff and really tearing it up. I remembered back about asking him when I was a youth about that phone and me being nosey as I am asked him if he had gotten paid he told me “no” and although it is possible that he may had gotten a few crumbs of recognition from the rich man’s table, he has not gotten PAID! And it is my desire and my prayer is that DR. Raymond P. Phillips SR. gets PAID. Because I know that he deserves it and his family deserves it and it is only fair and as one Preacher said, “the whole universe is on the side of right” May Gods richest benedictions be yours!

Th e cordless telephone, or “cell phone,” for short, has revolutionized the world of communication technology in the last fi fty years. We are no longer bound to an electrical cord plugged into the wall of a building in order to trans-mit an audible sound to another person anywhere in the world. In most cases today, the instrument to do this is in our pocket or otherwise immediately at hand. And the single person primarily responsible for this universal advancement in communication technology is one with whom I attended Southwestern Christian College in Ter-rell, Texas, over fi fty years ago, by the name of Raymond Phillips. To my knowledge, it was this man who as a young man in the 1950s, understanding the science of magnetic intensity, received the fi rst offi cial patent on the invention of the cordless telephone. It is my opinion that because of the denigration and discrediting of African-Americans in American history in the 1950s, Raymond Phillips was denied the acclaim that he deserved at that time as the true inventor of the cordless telephone, which is used now by millions throughout the world. He is, therefore, not a recipient of any of the billions of dollars that are now being generated and reaped by others, which, in actuality, are refl ective of the fruit of his contribution to this fi eld of communication technology. Th e least that can be done for him now is to honor his ingenuity in this fi eld by awarding him a Nobel Prize in recog-nition of his service to humanity. And I so recommend!

Humanity: Dynamic social capital

An important survey

Humans are dynamic social capital. Finally made it deep down we all longed for. We hu-mans are taking new steps.

We explore each other, our curiosity overcome our fears, our heart victories over our ego. We wish to show each other who we really are. We love to use our full potential

in a healthy way. Th is de-velopment takes place in all areas and at all, individually and collectively. We are inspired by authentic honest partners, colleagues, organi-

zations, businesses, schools, kindergartens, universities, states, municipalities, re-gions, scientists, doctors, teachers, bricklayers, clea-ners, cashiers. Th e newspa-per Trust is no exception. In this code, Mikael Engström responsible publisher Trust and Bert-Ola Bergstrand doctoral student at Goth-enburg University have jointly de-veloped the so-cial capital which specifi cally led to the formation of the World Bank of Trust and Open Code for Trust and Responsibi-lity. We all understand that to create a healthy and sus-tainable long-term balanced coexistence with ourselves, our families, our partners, our colleagues, our leaders, with our nature and with our sisters and brothers the

animals. To succeed in these relationships, we need three golden ingredients: 1. Trust in each other, 2. Responsi-bility, 3rd Th at just anyone can, be affi rmed, apprecia-ted, and best of all loved.

In Region Västra Göta-land a new unique initi-ative called Public and Private Social responsi-bility – CSR Västsverige breaks new ground. During the summer of 2009 a survey (Youth and responsibilities) was done by the com-pany Hållbar Ide.

Th e task was given to Moa Nilsson and Louise Solar two young women who interviewed 88 teenagers all over west Sweden.

At the central station in Gothenburg Moa and Lou-ise kindly shared their view on the study to Bert-Ola

and Mikael.- Everyone needs to

take responsibility for it to work and I think everyone is aware about it, “says Moa.

- Can you give us an under-standing about how the young generation in west Sweden perceives the concept of Responsibility? “If you do not take responsibility for your acts, society can simply not evolve. Nothing would work, this is a fact. We are dependent on each other and without trust chaos will be the result.”

Relating to the study Moa and Louise have car-ried through their ideas of responsibility very much refl ect how young people in west Sweden look upon responsibility. What stands out in the study is a highly valued family life, to feel secure when one walks on the street and squares and not the least to have friends. However, there are also many who underline the importance of taking responsibility for their own life, making their homework after school and so on. Moa: “If you can-

not take responsibility of yourself, how can you then take responsibility for other people”. It is clear that the youth of west Sweden see responsibility as something important. Th e majority says they take responsibility and

also that other people in general do as well.

During the discussion we dig deeper into the ques-

tion of how to build a socie-ty where responsible acts are a natural way of living. Ac-cording to Moa and Louise, it is vital that young people feel that they are engaged, that they are listened to. One has to fi nd meaningful activities where people can

fi nd that they build society with others. Th ese ideas also go together with the results of the study. “Th ey who take more responsibility are of-ten engaged in society and act in the interest of others, they become raw models

for others. Th is goes for the local community as well as for the world in general.

How can we sum up this interesting study and relate it to the bigger picture of development in the world. It is fairly evident that respon-sibility and trust (or social capital) is

two sides of the same coin. When you take responsibi-lity for your acts the social capital is growing as well which makes the society more sustainable and agile. In short, Trust among pe-ople and institutions are vital for development.

A problem with buil-ding trust and responsibi-lity lies in the fact that it is sometime diffi cult to see the outcomes of individual acts. Elinor Ostrom, this year’s Nobel Prize winner in Economic Science has shown how one can build social capital, going beyond the short term interests

frequently running the agenda in politics and eco-nomics. One method that can be applied in building a responsible and trustful society is to visualize the benefi ts of good initiatives. Th is is exactly what is done in this study.

In the end of the con-versation we ask Moa and Louise if they have some advice to the people who take decision on the COP 15 meeting. “Someone has to take the fi rst step”.

One can hardly wait and see; who will have the cou-rage to do just this?

Hej kära Maria!Det var ett tag sedan vi hördes men hoppas du och familjen har det bra på alla plan. Önskar er allt Gott. Jag var på Öland i somras, på Vedic Art kurs för barnfamiljer. Där målade jag fram en stor “Ego-gök” som växer av rädslans nyheter. Bara en enda kvällstidning räckte för all text i tavlan. Sen tog jag några Söndagsbilagor och skapade rädslans reklam. Jag skrek och grät när jag satt i ateljén en kväll och klippte och klistrade och det var skönt att få ur sig. Innan jag reste hem eldade jag upp tavlan och skrattade som en vild häxa. Barnen skrattade tillsammans med mig och hjälpte mig att tända elden. De hade många frågor om varför jag målat tavlan. När jag svarade “Jag målar för att jag vill att alla krig ska ta slut” så tittade en femårig fl icka på mig och sa med djup övertygelse “Men du behöver inte oroa dig, det blir inga fl er krig”. Åh tack, vad underbart med denna tidning!

För 8 år sedan hade min vän Maria ett drömprojekt att starta en tidning med bara Goda Nyheter. Det rann ut i sanden. Kanske var tiden inte mogen. Men nu!

Jag har inte läst en kvällstidning på 17 år och inte en morgontidning på 3 år. Ett av detta års nyårslöf-

ten var att inte bläddra i en Metro eller veckotidning, inte ens Må Bra eller Hälsa.

Orsaken är att jag är helt övertygad om att mass-medians fokusering på kris och problem och det ham-rande budskapet “världen är ond och farlig (bäst du skyddar dig och kämpar för livet)” gör oss rädda, stres-sade, lättstyrda och ointel-ligenta.

Samt mer benägna att shoppa och droga oss med allt vi kan för att fl y från rädslan och bristen på tillit.

Men... så... jag var på kurs på Rootlight Yogacen-ter i Solna och där kunde jag inte låta bli att börja bläddra i en TilliT. Blev så glad och tog hem ett num-mer. Läste hela tidningen och blev allt lyckligare.

Bäst av allt. La fram tidningen på köksbordet så att mina tonårsbarn skulle kunna läsa den. Om de ville.

Tre dagar senare sa min dotter som är 15 år - “Mamma... den där tid-ningen... den var så BRA. Vet du, det är första gången i mitt liv som jag har läst en tidning från början till slut!”

När jag tänker efter så är det nog samma för mig. Har jag någonsin orkat läsa en hel (skräck)tidning?

Nu lever Leela i materiell enkelhet med en glad kropp, inre frid och lycka i ett av Uppsalas s.k. segregerade bostadsområden – Gottsunda. C lever kvar i det välbär-gade området. De har ett gemensamt barn som bor hos dem växelvis.Scenen är hemmet på Bröderna Berwaldsväg, Leela praktiserar yoga och är lycklig.Riiing… riing… riiing… (mobilen ringer)L: Ja det är Leela… C: Ja hej det är C! Leelas refl ektion:

Efteråt, lade mig ner på golvet, helt överväldigad. Verkligheten som överträff ar dikten! Att få det så kristallklart redovisat att våra tankar skapar världen. I mitt Gottsunda är världen mestadels fylld med vänlighet och jag är inte rädd. Jag har tackat nej till mass-medias bild av världen som en ”problemfylld och farlig plats” och kan vara kvar i min egen bild. Har också kraft att fortsätta skapa det jag vill skapa – förståelse, medkänsla, enhet, glädje, skönhet.

C däremot, och alla andra som ensidigt tror på storys som ”Kravaller på Bröderna Berwaldsväg” får kanske bränsle att se människor som ”potentiella hot” som ”vi måste skydda oss mot” . Kalla in polisen, livgardet, ”ta tag med hårdhandskarna” i kampen mot ungdomsproblemen, missbruket, kriminaliteten

Jag har också sett att det fi nns ”problem” (symtom på obalans och orättvisor) i Gottsunda. Men samtidigt… jag väljer att lägga min uppmärksamhet på det som fungerar och är bra. De här ungdomarna som ”ballar ur”… herregud jag förstår dem! Om jag var tonåring, full av hormoner, livskraft och massa oförlöst kreativitet, men inte såg att jag var välkommen någonstans och omedveten om hur jag kan använda min kraft för att förvandla kaos till kosmos… då skulle jag bara vara ARG hela tiden. Jag är fortfarande ofta arg trots att jag snart är 50, men nu vet jag mer om hur och vad jag kan använda ARG-energin till.

En månad efter detta telefonsamtal fi ck jag en Insikt stark som ett åsknedslag. Att jag ska sluta sprida ut mitt engagemang åt alla håll. Jag har farit som en skottspole till Stockholm och Flemingsberg i två år. Jag ska gräva där jag står! Nu vill jag skapa utifrån ett inre lugn med närvaro, medvetenhet och tillit. Så min ledstjärna är nu Se globalt, skapa lokalt!

Associa-tions are a place where people meet regularly, independent of their original motivation or purpose for joining an association. Thus, sports clubs, music groups, or professional associations all share the common feature that people meet and form social networks.

The changes induced by development in a liberal democratic country like India can be reasonably managed if urbanisation is based on multi-stakeholder dialogues based on trust and networks of cooperation (what we increasingly tend to address nowadays as Social Capital). Non-inclusion of all the con-cerned stakeholders may lead to discontent and even violence.

Th e political scenario of West Bengal after the Union Parliament Elections 2009 demonstrates the im-portance of Social Capital in our civil society. In the run up to the General Elec-tions a major electioneering campaign of the Opposition was focused on the role of the State Government in forcible land acquisitions by exercising Eminent DomainTh e Opposition maintained that private entrepreneurs should either purchase land directly from the owners or else build their factories on land owned by the State Government. But the indu-strialists wanted to purchase plots of land near Kolkata to utilize the available in-frastructural facilities. Th e State Government sided with the industrialists by forcibly acquiring fertile agricultural land. Th e re-sult of the elections was a traumatic defeat for the ruling Left Front, its worst electoral defeat since they fi rst came to power in West

Bengal in 1977. Th e defeat was preceded and followed by skirmishes and political violence that snowballed into a twelve-hour General Strike called by the Opposi-tion on 17 July 2009.

cess to resources by forming social relations that they would not have otherwise. But associational life is even more than individuals’ pools of resources that provide personal benefi ts. Civil net-works can also create condi-tions for the emergence of social norms like reciprocity and cooperation.

Th e subject of our re-search is whether and to what extent these assumed advantages of associations can be observed and mea-sured. To fi nd out, we fi rst counted all associations that were registered 2008 in Germany. Overall, there were 554,394 associations or 67.43 on average per 10,000 inhabitants. Th ese associations are not dist-ributed equally over the

country. Some regions show high concen-trations of associations and others have low associational density (see Figure 1). For instance the city of Hamburg and the

county around it have com-paratively few associations per inhabitant, whereas Th uringia, the federal state

in the middle of Germany, and Saarland, in the West of Germany, have many listed organizations.

Furthermore, we analy-zed the relation between the number of a region´s as-sociations and its economic performance. Our statistical analyses support some of the assumed positive ad-vantages of associations. Th us, regions with many associations tend to have higher GDP per capita. In addition, regions with denser networks of civil as-sociations have also lower unemployment rates. Th ese fi ndings support interna-tional studies. However we found no relation between a region´s associational density and its political participation or crime rate. Our study has also various limitations: we have no information about the size of the diff erent associations or degree of their members´ involvement. Th erefore our measure of social capital is a rather crude proxy and needs to be refi ned in further research.

Axel Franzen: Is today the lead professor at Bern University in so-ciology. Franzen is one of the leading resear-chers in social capital research today in the world. His research is groundbreaking with many contributions. His report “Who wants to become a Million-aire” is an outstanding contribution on sho-wing how human and social capital relates to each other.

Det fi nns heller ingen an-nan vätska som kan lösa så många substanser som vat-ten och transportera dem genom allt levande. Hälften av alla grundämnen har återfunnits i vatten och vat-tenmolekylen bär alla dessa mineraler och grund-ämnen med sig utan att själv förstö-ras. Det är vattnet som i samspel med växt-riket och fotosynte-sen ger oss det syre vi behöver för att andas.

Beroende av ha-vetÄven om träden producerar mängder av syre kommer tre av fyra syremolekyler i varje andetag vi tar från algernas kloroplaster i havet. Vi människor är alltså på så sätt beroende av havet.

Det är fantastiskt att sitta i solskenet i Piteå och skriva dessa rader till er. Norr-botten som är Sveriges nordligaste del är fridfullt och fyllt med kraft och frisk-het. Att vi inte tar till vara mer av denna enorma resurs när vi bygger Sverige är förunderligt? För att skapa ett långsiktigt, framgångsrikt samhälle behöver självklart alla i samhället vara en betydelsefull del av strukturen och själva byg-gandet. Låt oss alla begrunda detta faktum!

Vilken resa det varit att producera detta nummer av TilliT. Jag beundrar alla inblandade som gjort det möjligt. TilliT är en fri tidning som görs av fria sjä-lar på ett fritt sätt. Det är fantastiskt med denna tillit. Samtidigt är det stora utmaningar, då samhället som tidningen TilliT verkar i är byggt på motsatsen till tillit och frihet. Alla som använder det sunda förnuftet är HJÄLTAR och

FÖREBILDER för det nya friska som nu växer fram.

För varje dag som går blir det lättare att se igenom när männis-kor är oärliga. Detta faktum uppdagas på

alla plan. I det privata när jag upptäcker att jag själv eller någon i min närhet är osann. Det blir snabbt klart och tydligt när arbetskamrater eller jag själv väljer att vara ärliga. Det är också uppenbart och tydligt när off entliga personer som t.ex. jag själv, politiker, företagsledare eller andra pratar och handlar ärligt eller av egoistiska skäl. Det är befriande att för varje minut som tickar så vaknar en ny människa till LIV och inser konsekvenserna av sitt eget handlande.

In EnglishTh e sun is shining as I write these words to you from Piteå. Situated in Norr-botten, the very north of Sweden, Piteå is peaceful yet powerfully charged with clear energy and freshness. Th ere is an abundance of raw assets here, available to aid in building up Sweden, but remarkably not being utilised to the fullest. To create a sustainable and successful society structure, every individual should be recognised as an important part of the building team and indeed the struc-ture itself.  Let us all consider this fact!

What a journey it has been to produce this issue of TilliT. I admire all who were involved in making it happen.  "TilliT" is an independent publication created by free-spirited persons in an open manner. Th e trust is monumental. Th e challenges are as well, as the society in which this magazine appears is it-self built upon the opposites of freedom and trust. All who choose to use their ”common sense” are HEROES and ROLE MODELS for what is healthy and new and now emerging.

Every day that passes it becomes easier and easier to detect and see through dishonesty. Th is trait is visible on every level. On a personal level I experience it when I catch myself or the ones in my vicinity being untrue. It quickly be-comes clear when I myself and co-workers choose honesty. It is obvious when public fi gures such as I myself, politicians, business leaders and others speak and act honestly or for selfi sh reasons. It is liberating that every minute that goes by individuals awaken to the consequences of their actions.

När jag började älska mig själv, förstod jag, att jag alltid och vid varje tillfälle befi nner mig på rätt plats vid rätt tidpunkt, och att allt som sker är riktigt – utifrån detta kunde jag vara lugn. Idag vet jag att detta kallas TILLIT.

När jag började älska mig själv, kunde jag urskilja, att emo-tionell smärta och lidande endast är signaler till mig själv, att jag lever i konfl ikt med min egen sanning. Idag vet jag att detta kallas ATT VARA AUTENTISK.

När jag började älska mig själv, slutade jag längta efter ett annorlunda liv, och jag kunde se, att allt runtomkring mig är en uppfordran att växa. Idag vet jag att detta kallas MOGNAD.

När jag började älska mig själv, slutade jag beröva mig själv min fria tid och jag slutade med att planlägga stor-slagna projekt för framtiden. Idag gör jag endast sådant som ger mig fröjd och glädje, sådant som jag älskar att göra och som får mitt hjärta att sjunga och jag gör det på mitt eget sätt och i min egen takt. Idag vet jag att detta kallas ÄRLIGHET.

Happy HeartsThe human mind is tricky. Something so fundamentally true as the elaborate inter-woven nature of our existence can be for-gotten.

Th e illusion of separation can live on and nourish feelings that we might act upon. As a living breathing person in this universe, I have opportunity to expe-rience you as a part of my journey and explore interac-tions. As a teacher, I have opportunity to evaluate what I have learned, what I want to teach and how. As a dancer I learn to discern what moves me and how.

As a practitioner of yoga, I become aware of actions of the body and mind. It is a beautiful thing, the way it is all set up. I did not get here on my own, and without other living beings I would not last. Th e basic act of true sharing is fundamental to survival yet frequently overlooked. As a student I trust my teachers and their teachings. I trust that they aim to take us to the next level of excellence and enjoy the journey. I fi nd that na-turally, a truly happy human heart never plays tricks.

Everyone has impor-tant pieces to the puz-zle for the survival and development of the region where they live. When people choose teamwork on equal terms and contribute through social capital, things really start to happen. In a small vil-lage in Swedish Lapland there are several ex-amples of what is pos-sible when people take personal leadership.

All people have enormous capacity and are equally important. When people

choose to discard judg-ment and feelings of being more or less than others, teamwork on equal terms is pos-sible. Th is makes rural community commitment easy. Th e key is for each individual to take personal responsibility and leader-ship. We are all born to be a potential leader in our own lives, regardless of back-ground, race or education.

Consciousness and SustainabilityAt the time of this writing, in the autumn of 2009, the entire world is reeling from fi nancial crisis. At the top of the economic ladder, the rich are poorer. In the middle, decades of hard work of hundreds of mil-lions of people have been lost to a sudden fi nancial tsunami. And at the bottom, the poor have been pushed again to the edge of desperation.

Th e credit crunch has un-dermined faith in our eco-nomic and investment sys-tems and brought up huge questions for policy-makers and private people. It has undermined or destroyed the credibility of many of the foresight, planning and

investment theories and reputations of the past ge-neration.

Th e issue is certainly not preservation of any status quo, whether political, eco-nomic or societal.  On the contrary, I am convinced the world is undergoing an extraordinary complex and lengthy transformation. Th e signs are everywhere to any who will see them. We are all going somewhere new. None of us, greatest or least, can plot a precise course. Nor will master plans see us through; they are the fi rst to be jet-tisoned in a sea of complexity.  We are all going to have to invent the new world, decision by decision, action by action, over the next se-veral decades.

However I am not writ-ing about the horrors of the economic downturn that

have appeared in almost all shapes and sizes, and have had dramatic eff ects upon most human activities. In-stead I wish to discuss how more conscious and sus-tainable sense-making and decision-making strategies can be achieved.

In my opinion, a fun-damental issue for antici-patory and adaptive human systems is the way we com-prehend time and future. And a signifi cant question is: Where is the future? If we think the future is so-mewhere out there, further in time and space, waiting for us in one form or an-other, we will have diffi cul-ties taking the responsibility for it. If we place the future in our present decisions and actions, more conscious, responsible and potentially sustainable solutions be-come achievable.

I take St. Augustine´s (who lived around 400 A.D and is known as one of the most original and interesting philosophers of Christianity) considerations further. He concludes that past and future do not exist outside mind, and argues that “the mind performs three functions; those of expectation, attention and

memory. Th e future which it expects passes through the present, to which it attends,

not the past which it remembers.”

Th e under-standing of past, present and future as present past, present present

and present future in the middle column is comple-mented in the left by past past, past present and past future, and in the right by future past, futu-re present and future future. Figure 1 provides an explicit notional tool to discuss how the past future has moved to present present, and the present future will become the future present. If we want the future pre-sent to be diff erent from present future, we need to have the elements that build the diff erence in it; continu-

ing the way we always have makes the future predicta-ble. Likewise we can fi nd the heritage, i.e. the future present; we are going to leave to the next generations in our present future.

Th e second fundamental issue concerns the nature of the entities in life – human beings, organisms, ecosys-tems and organizations are only partially determined and always partially open. Th e future is embedded in ourselves. Th e sentence app-lies to everyone and explica-tes my philosophy. Th ere is potentiality whether hidden, meaning that the poten-tiality is there, but it only waits for the triggers to be

activated, or latent, meaning that truly latent compo-nents do not exist at all in the entity´s actual state, but they may still emerge in time. E.g. a newborn

baby cannot do most of the things adults can, but in due time he will have the capacities to do them. Th is necessitates a new more conscious approach to

change; we cannot any-more com-prehend and treat it

like billiard balls in motion and on the behavior of dead matter.

Der det skjerDen fremste opp-gaven til en sosiolog er å fi nne mening i det som synes å være meningsløst. Dette var en av grunnene til at jeg fattet interesse for tema ungdom og poli-tisk engasjement.

Det er fl ere fortellinger om ungdoms politiske engasje-ment. Den vi best kjenner, handler om de uengasjerte og selvopptatte unge. Jeg vil her fortelle to historier - den ene fra da jeg startet mitt forsknings-prosjekt, den andre fra da jeg avsluttet det. Historiene forteller oss en viktig ting: Hvordan vi forstår virkelig-heten handler om hvor vi retter blikket.

4. februar 2002: Det er en kald lørdagskveld i Oslo, og jeg har satt meg godt til rette foran TV-skjermen. Kveldens faktaprogram på NRK1 hadde tittelen ’Det meningsløse 2001’. Mitt håp var å bli servert en fruktbar populærviten-skapelig analyse om hvordan det poli-tiske enga-sjementet hadde endret seg over tid og en forklaring på det som ble hevdet i annonseringen av programmet: Hvorfor er ikke dagens unge samfunn-sengasjerte?

Det var samfunnsprofi -lerte eldre menn med sterke

meninger som skulle mål-bære endringene vi hadde sett i Norge de siste 30-40 årene. Samtlige uttrykte en bekymring på demokratiets vegne. Ingenting var som før – som i 1960- og -70 årene – da ungdomsgene-rasjonen representerte en motmakt i samfunnet.

Den politiske debatten var nå død og det kritiske

samfunnsengasjementet erstattet av en egoistisk og selvnytende konsum- og underholdningskultur. Et eksempel på dette var at den 31. mai 2001 stemte 2,5 millioner nordmenn på de aller første norske reality-stjernene i Big-Brother hu-set, mens samme dag deltok bare 700 på stiftelsesmøtet til ATTAC Norge.

For å vise hvor galt det var med motmakten i sam-funnet, ble det vist TV-bil-der av et tilsynelatende tamt ATTAC-møte i 2001 og av

elleville EF-mot-standere i 1972, like etter at det nor-ske folk hadde sagt nei

til medlemskap i Europeisk Fellesskap. Kontrastene var naturligvis store mellom TV-bildene.

Det var nesten 30 år mellom de to hendelsene, men to ting var det samme:

Den profi lerte politikeren fra Sosialistisk Venstreparti i Norge, Berge Furre, holdt appell på EF-møtet i 1972 og på ATTAC-møtet i 2001. Den norske vise-sangeren Jan Eggum spilte progressive viser i 1972 og den samme Eggum spilte de samme progressive visene 30 år senere. Og de lurt på hvor ungdommen var? De

var jo der ungdomsge-nerasjoner til en kvar tid har vært: Der det skjer. Den

31. mai 2001 var det foran TV’en for å stemme fram den første reality-stjernen på norsk jord.

8 år senere - 20. januar 2009: Barack Hussain Oba-ma innsettes som USAs 44. president.

We need Change! sa han, og ga håp om at det var mulig. Han behøvde noen som trodde på han – og mange amerikanere trengte noen å tro på. De ble et team.

Yes we can! Ropte titu-senvis av unge, av kvinner, av afroamerikanere. De lot seg mobilisere, de lot seg engasjere. De hadde en drøm, og de ga håpet en sjanse.

We did it! på valgdagen den 4. november 2008 var det grasrota som avgjorde.

Men det er noe univer-selt i fortellingen om det amerikanske valget. Mange har ment at Obamas seier kan tilskrives hans retoriske evne. Andre mener det er evnen til å lytte. Jeg er enig med de andre. Ikke snakk

om oss – ikke snakk til oss – men snakk med oss, sier mine unge informanter. Det er hjelper så lite å være framtiden demokratiske håp om en ikke har noen som lytter. Da mister man også troen på at det nytter. Obama lyttet – han snak-ket med dem – og de svarte han.

Hvor var ungdommen da Attac Norge ble stiftet? Der ungdomsgenerasjoner til enhver tid har vært – der det skjer. Denne dagen var det foran TV’en for å stem-me fram den første reality-sternen på norsk jord.

Obama innsettes fordi amerikansk ungdom også var der det skjer. Den 4. no-

vember 2008 var det i USAs stemmelokaler. De viste oss alle at mobilisering både er meningsfullt og mulig.

Bert Ola Bergstrand, working on his doctor’s thesis at Goth-enburg University has been studying trust and social capital for over 3 years now. Bert Ola contacted Mikael Engström the founder of TilliT Media Group International because TilliT is already doing what the politicians are only talking about. Bert Ola Bergstrand is co-founder of the 2009 Swedish Conference on Urban Policies and Social Capital -seminar in Lidköping on 23rd - 26th of September. Top researchers and specialists from around the world displayed research statistics about trust being the key issue in social capital. Mikael Eng-ström was invited as a speaker. Participants from that Confe-rence are now co-founders of World Bank of Trust. Th e World Bank of Trust has a support system called the Social Trust Intelligence Awareness System – STIAS. Th e STIAS system is built to put in a sixth helix in the social capi-

tal system currently used. Th e current system includes States, businesses, university / academic world. Now scientists are integrating a fourth dimension – the non profi table idealistic foundations. Mikael and Bert Ola have however taken things two steps further and included trustworthy media and aware-ness into it as well. Th eir model is unique and groundbreaking and makes it possible to use in a wider perspective.

2009 Noble Prize in Economic Sciences was awarded for the fi rst time ever to a woman, Eleanor Ostrom. Her message was “the cure for the economic system is trust”.

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon stated that we need another top meeting before the COP15 meeting. "Th e World Bank of Trust founding is one of these meetings" says Mikael Engtröm

One of the fundamental problems in society today is the lack of trust between diff erent actors, leading to stagnation. Increased con-fi dence leads to dynamic development at all levels. In particular, it is the “big issues” such as environment, poverty, etc. WBOT con-tributes to meet with con-fi dence (trust) in creative processes where necessary.

WBOT is an extremely fl exible and fast moving “bank” adapting to and showing up wherever there is a demand for solving problems in which trust (confi dence) is a scarce commodity. 

Th e persons who are on the “21 point” list when WBOT was founded were selected as good representatives for sustainable community building. It is not necessary to say yes to be in, because all founders are nominated. Th e only expectation is that the participants remain themselves. Th at is why the nominees are on the list.

WBOT was initiated by the newspaper Trust (TilliT) and the informal Dyna-mic social capital network. WBOT is based on the scientifi cally proven fact that all things are interde-pendent, and that all should participate and do their best to spread good news and deeds within the com-munity.

How to use STIAS:We are using the YES as a method. It is the most effi cient and yet a very simple method to make progress in putting theory into practice. Within the STIAS system framework we have all the answers when we connect the right QUES-TIONS with the right ANSWERS.

Within STIAS, we immediately locate the solution which is then put into an ACTION PLAN with concrete actions and very clear responsibilities and dead-lines. Everybody involved in STIAS is pointed out as responsible for at least one action in the ACTION PLAN. Th e only thing YOU need to do is to say YES and trustworthy media will do the rest.

To make the World Bank of Trust function a system approach is needed - The STIAS system. Social Trust Intelligence Awareness System (STIAS) a support system of World Bank of Trust.

Social Trust Intelligence Awareness System (STIAS) is a system that binds all diff erent fi elds of exper-tise together and transfer

social capital. Th e main focus point of the system is gathering knowledge from diff erent actors in society and translating it into forms understandable to all.

It is time to add a NEW piece of the puzzle to the existing systems that go-vern the world. In addition to University, Corporate, State/Municipal and Civil Sectors, we now introduce a new perspective - PER-SONAL CONSCIOUS

AWARENESS (PCA), which brings attention to the full potential of human capacity. Th is perspective will help us to build trust between each other and trust in our unique-ness.

A chan-ge in perspective to PCA will make systems provo-catively and astoundingly more effi cient. Th is will lead

to a willingness to invest in a sustainable society as it will show greater return on investments, resulting in human and economic

growth. Th is is where the unique Trust-factor steps in. Trust is the result of co-operation and a huge resource presenting easy and at the same time quick pro-fi table outcome. Th e brilli-ant aspect of this part of the system is the fact that trust as a resource can be gained straight away as opposed to the resources that make up the old-fashioned models that are time consuming and full of friction.

As pointed out, the STIAS-system is moving directly from the 4-helix system to a 6-helix system. We add PCA and trustwor-

thy Media. To make this happen Pioneers and civil courage are needed to put STIAS-system into practice and to transfer academic

knowledge into state of the art knowledge that be-nefi ts the

practical world. Th e follo-wing abilities and skills are required:

• Th e ability to un-derstand several kinds of areas of expertise

• Th e ability to transfer this understanding into a language all parties can understand

• Communicational skills to create understanding and trust between the parties

• Credibility, trustwort-hiness and recognition among all parties

Dear Mr. Rasmusen, chairman of COP15 and Mr. Reinfeldt, Prime Minister of Sweden during the Swe-dish Presidency of the European Union.

Until 31st of Dec 2009 you two have a unique possi-bility to step forward and do something no politicians have done in the last 50 years. Th at is to use ALL the POWERS you have to show the rest of the politici-ans at the COP15 meeting and in the world that it is the People you are representing (almost 15 million in Denmark and Sweden). Why not join forces with the other Scandinavian representatives from, Norway, Fin-land and Iceland!!!

If you ask people –”can you normally trust oth-er people?” – this ques-tion has been asked several times by World Values Survey – the re-sponse is interesting. In most European coun-tries the number of positive answers are 30 % or below. 70 % think that you cannot nor-mally trust other peo-ple. Only in the small Scandinavian countries can you fi nd better responses – ac-tually approx 70 % positive an-swers.

Th ere are trustwor-thy facts. One tells us that a small community normally has more trust than big ones. Overall, however, the fi gures are disturbingly low. Trust is a scarce commodity. Let us discuss this for a mo-ment and ask: “what is the cost of low trust?” it is ex-tremely high in all societies. You will need written agre-ements, a lot of bureaucracy, a lot of extra costs. You will

tend to consider your bu-siness relations as enemies – as adversaries. You have to become a suspicious person in order to succeed in busi-ness. In family and friend-ship: you have fewer friends, fewer people you can trust. In the extreme, you become an island surrounded by a hostile world.

Some years ago Mr. Cameron, the leader of the Conservative Party in the

UK suggested that GDP (Gross Domestic Product) was outdated as a measure of national success. Instead he suggested “the national Happiness index” – well-being, satisfaction with life. Quite recently, Mr. Sarkozy, the president of France said the same thing. Most Eu-ropean and US politicians, however, are not ready for this positive kind of thin-

king, yet. May I suggest that we include “Trust” in this index.

Th e happiness index has a lot of research to speak for it; it could be implemented as a new way of measur-ing success in any country tomorrow. What is lacking is the political will to do it. It will happen sometime – perhaps in 10 years when new politicians become aware of the fact that more

money does not make us happier. Th e excep-tion is of course, poor communi-ties. Let us change the

political landscape and ask for the happiness index!

 Th is is the end of these few words, but hopefully the beginning of positive change!

Progress, trust and happinessAround the world, a lot of people are searching for new priorities and goals. This observa-tion holds for individu-als who may decide to meditate, to run a marathon or to start a family. And it also holds for whole socie-ties, where many are realizing that a nar-row focus on material measures of success, such as the widely used gross domestic product (GDP), may no longer be appropriate.

But what do we want to aim at as societies? Looking for things that really matter for peoples’ satisfaction with life may be a good starting point. Th e so-called happi-ness research tries to answer this question. Around the world, people focus on the same issues: happiness, health, families, friends, trust, freedom, education, work, income and several other items. Depending on the level of a society’s deve-lopment, attention may be stronger on diff erent items on this list. But they matter for all human beings.

Th e nice thing is that these issues tend to go hand in hand with each other. A person or a country with high levels of educa-tion and trust also tends to have a high income, good health status and a high level of life satisfaction or happiness. Countries that do well on these aspects are members of an exclu-sive club called the happy variety of capitalism: the Scandinavian countries, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Australia and Canada.

Th e eff ort to measure progress in a broader way than just GDP is going on at many levels and in many countries right now. Th e OECD has set up a pro-ject called “Measuring the progress of societies” and the European Commission wants to go “Beyond GDP”. And the United Nations Development Program has been publishing a human development index for 20 years that includes life expectancy and education together with income.

Since nobody is perfect, there is room for improve-ment for almost every coun-try. Th e newly founded think tank “Center for Societal Progress” in Frankfurt wants to help Germany become a

member of the happy variety of capitalism by addressing the weaknesses in education, work, health and work-life balance. Even in Sweden with its high level of trust and income, there is room for improvement: the unem-ployment rate is higher than in some other countries and more people could be completing higher educa-tion. An improvement on these aspects of progress is possible – although it won’t be easy. A broadly based discussion about a society’s priorities and an appropriate measurement of progress are necessary fi rst steps.

Tillväxt är en folklig gräsrotsrörelse för stadsodling i Stock-holm. Projektet star-tades den 3:e maj 2009 genom att intresserade människor möttes och deltog i en workshop med bärbuskplantering i Vitabergsparken på Söder i Stockholm.

Gratis, närodlat och eko-logiskt. Vi planterar frukt, bär, nötter och ätbara pe-renner på allmänna platser runt om i staden, så att män-niskor kan gå runt i nötlundar, fruktparker, plommonsko-gar, bäralléer eller bara här

och där och plocka direkt från träden och buskarna. En av metoderna är Aktiv Stadsodling. Vi träff as runt 30 personer i en park, pratar om plantering, hållbarhet och närliggande ämnen. Sedan har vi workshops i busk- och trädplantering. Vi har planterat päron- och äppelträd, hasselbuskar, olika sorters bär, minikiwi mm. Vi blir även inbjudna till festivaler, dagis och skolor för att hålla frukt-

trädsplanteringsworkshops där vi planterar tillsammans

med andra. Det är mycket uppskattat!

Att göra staden vänligare, go-dare, fruktbarare och mer bärkraf-tig. Vi vill bidra med att kunskap om frukt och bär blir en del av allmänbildningen igen. Vårt mål är att Stockholm ska bli självförsörjande på gratis frukter, bär och nötter med

närlig-gande odlingar som sköts av stock-holmarna själva. Vi hop-

pas att det ska sprida sig, att vi inspirerar folk till att

plantera själva. För klimatet, hälsa och stärkt gemenskap i bostadsområden.

Vi tycker om staden - Vi förädlar och räddar stads-miljön! Träd och buskar behöver tid på sig för att ge frukt. Det var bland annat den insikten som fi ck oss att starta. Att plantera frukt, bär och nötter är viktigt. Det är konkreta åtgärder för att skapa en mötesplats där pengar inte står i centrum och där försörjningen av livsmedel blir mer obero-ende. Vi ser att framtidens

stad kan bli självförsörjande i allt högre grad. Vi prak-tiserar direktdemokrati

eftersom våra politiska re-presentanter har visat en ovilja att aktivt agera för ett ekologiskt och demokratiskt samhälle.

Först papper… Sedan miljövänligt bränsle… Från samma träd! Skogen är en fantas-tisk resurs som kan förvandla dagens pap-pers- och massabruk till framtidens bioraffi -naderier.

- Fantastiskt roligt. Pro-jektet ska bli mycket spän-nande att följa, tyckte kung Carl XVI Gustaf, när han tog det första spadtaget inför bygget av den första stora DME-piloten som byggs i Piteå av företaget Chemrec. 

Enkelt förklarat framställs DME genom att man tar tillvara på Svartlut, en restprodukt från pappers- och massaindu-strin. Svartluten har högt energivärde men fram till i dag har den mest eldats upp. Detta är något som företaget Chemrec, genom

utveckling av en ny förgas-ningsteknik vid försöks-anläggningen i Piteå, är på god väg att radikalt förändra till det bättre - både miljö-mässigt och ekonomiskt.

Ersätter hälften av fossil diesel

En annan fi ffi g grej med processen är att konkur-rensen om råvaran undviks. Först gör fabrikerna papper av skogen, sedan bränsle av svartluten. För skogsindu-strin öppnar svartlutsförgas-

ningen nya jättemöjligheter. Bruken kan förvandlas till miljövänliga bioraffi nade-rier för tillverkning av både papper och drivmedel, utan något behov av extra råvara. Fabrikerna får därmed yt-

terligare en produkt att sälja, vilket på sikt kraftigt beräknas höja lönsamheten.

Det är inga små mäng-der det handlar om. Byggs en anläggning för svartlutsför-gasning vid varje svenskt pappers- och massabruk kan hälften av all diesel för tunga fordon som rullar på våra svenska vägar ersättas med miljövänligt drivmedel som BioDME och Biome-tanol.

100 miljoner tall-diesel

Volvo har nytillverkat fj orton öronmärkta lastbilar som kan köras på BioDME.

- Att vi i Sverige kan börja göra gröna bränslen av förnyelsebar skogsråvara är stort, förklarade Carl XVI Gustav efter en åktur i en av de miljövänliga lastbilarna. Men det fi nns fl er bipro-dukter från pappersbruken

som kan användas, exem-pelvis tallolja. På Harahol-men i Piteå byggs världens

första fabrik för till-verk-

ning av miljövänlig tall-diesel. Den kommer att producera 100 miljoner liter grön diesel varje år.

Skogens rikedo-mar

Vetenskapsbyn Solan-der Science Park i Piteå är världsledande när det gäller forskning och utveckling som ska förvandla dagens pappers- och massabruk till framtidens bioraffi naderier. Ytterligare en sak som testas är att göra bränsle av trä-pulver från nermalda grenar och rötter.

Skogen döljer fl er ri-kedomar. Forskningen i Piteå handlar inte bara om förnyelsebara drivmedel. Kemikalierna från skogsrå-varan kan även användas i

DME (Di-Metyl-Eter) är en gas som omvandlas till vätska redan vid ett lågt tryck på fem bar. Hante-ringen är okomplicerad och liknar den för gasol.

DME kan framställas ur både naturgas och olika typer av biomassa. Den senare kallas BioDME.

Ur ett EU-perspektiv har BioDME potential att år 2030 kunna ersätta drygt 50 procent av dagens dieselanvändning inom tunga vägtransporter.

Tillverkningen av BioDME nyttjar skogen som råvara eff ektivare. Först gör industrin papper sedan bränsle av biprodukten svartlut. Samma träd kan alltså användas för tillverkning av två olika produk-ter.

Pilotanläggningen i Piteå kommer att producera fyra ton BioDME per dygn.

According to Darwin our genes are designed by the process of evo-lution. Not that they control us; we have an ample dose of free will, but the genes still have an impact on our minds. The good news is that knowledge on how evolution has shaped us can help. I have coined the term “Darwinian Happiness” for this perspective on what happiness is about; two features of the brain are particu-larly relevant.

One concerns a key fun-ction of the brain, that is, the one designed to direct

you toward sensible (for the genes anyway) beha-viour. To this purpose it delivers either rewarding sensations, or punishing sensations. Th e rewards are there for you to harvest. Th e other feature is that evolu-tion designed us to be in a good mood even in the ab-sence of particular pleasures. It is in your genes’ interest to reside in a content indi-vidual, because that sort of individual is more likely to take care of itself. Unfortu-nately contentment is easily lost due to stress and mental

problems.Mental disorders have

become so common that

they are considered the main challenge for the health authorities. Th e average person is not that happy. Again, the good news is that the biologi-cal perspective suggests a solution. Genetically we are adapted to a life in the Stone Age, but present way of life is disturbingly diff e-

rent. Not that we want to go back to the Stone Age, after all, who would not prefer a

good mattress for a bed in wet mud? Th e point is that some of the aspects of modern living cause problems.

Th e challenge is to fi nd out which.

Social life is likely to be a key element for a better life. We are designed to live in a tribal setting, having life-long relationships with a small group of people. Today most of us have, at the best, a nuclear family accompanied by a lot of

strangers. In the wake we see stress, anxiety, and redu-ced quality of life. A strong social network is not only a remedy for contentment, but also an excellent source of positive sensations: We are designed to reap brain rewards from compassion. In fact, although aggres-sion may be equally valid for your genes, at least in certain situations, you derive more joy from hugging than hitting fellow humans. So, for the sake of your Darwi-nian Happiness, socialize and be kind to others.

Recension: Star Trek

När Paramount-vinjet-ten startar infi nner sig den där känslan som bara kommer då jag vet att jag ska få uppleva något extraordinärt på fi lmduken. Den känslan håller sig fortfarande kvar.

Då fi lmen börjar kastas vi direkt in i en gigantisk strid som äger rum i rymden mellan två rymdskepp. In-tensiteten växer snabbt, mis-siler skjuts hej vilt och det

ena, mycket mindre, skeppet tar stor skada. Mitt i all turbulens som vi i publiken upplever, tvingas kaptenen från det mindre skeppet över till det större. På det mindre skep-pet har försteoffi ceren tagit över kontrollen och evakuerar hela be-sättningen. Då autopi-loten havererar tvingas den nya kaptenen stanna kvar. På ett av nödskeppen ligger samtidigt hans fru och föder deras barn.

Nästan tjugofem år senare tar barnet plats som kapten på federationsrymd-skeppet Enterprise. Resten är som bekant en teveserie.

Det intressanta med den här fi lmen är att den vrider och vänder på vad som komma skall, alltså i teve-

serien. Utan att avslöja för mycket så ändras tidslinjer fi lmen igenom, vilket ger en förundran om huruvida denna alternativa framtid är samma som i teveserierna.Själv tror jag inte det.

Filmen har många “småstora” skådisar såsom Winona Ryder, Karl Urban och Eric Bana som alla gör sitt bästa för att underhålla. Den bjuder även på tokig-heter från Simon Pegg och Leonard Nimoy, som spelar Spock i teveserien.

Filmen är väldigt väl-

gjord visuellt sett. Jag är dock inte säker på om det fi nns Oscar-potential i fi lmen, men den är fortfa-

rande otroligt välgjord. Så här mycket rymdstrider har jag inte sett sedan... sedan... nej precis. Fantastiskt är ordet. Det är bara att sätta sig tillrätta och buga inför specialeff ekterna.

Ljudet är också en vik-tig del, speciellt i science-fi ction sammanhang. Här får vi laserskott i öronen och känslan av att färdas snabbare än ljuset. Allt tack vare den fenomenala ljud-designen.

Den här fi lmen är ingen abstrakt skapelse. Inte heller

en rörande skapelse. Jag måste jämföra fi lmen med Transfor-mers för att ge er en slags tanke om vad det är för något. Varken tårar eller fascina-

tion, däremot en enormt, gigantiskt underhållande fi lm med roliga karaktärer, vackra landskap, intensiva

strider, pumpande sound-track, öroncharmerande ljud, ögonsplittrande eff ek-ter och ett hjärta fyllt med energi som får din kropp att skaka, Inte av förundran eller fängsling utan av ren kärlek till genren. Star Trek kommer ge dig en rejäl om-gång till fi lmupplevelse!

Sci-fi genrens renässans:En av 2000-talets bravader

Rymden. Den yttersta fronten. Vad är det som fängslar oss människor i förundran om stjärnor-na på den becksvarta natthimlen? Om de an-dra planeterna och möj-ligheten av en annan, utomjord-lig livsform? Är det ensamhet, räd-sla, eller ren nyfi kenhet och förundring?

I fi lmens värld är rymden allt det där och lite till. Där vi står nu är genrens med-eltid över, dags att se renäs-sansen i vitögat, Science-fi ction genrens renässans.

Man kan lätt säga att genren hade sin gyllene period från 50-talet fram till slutet av 80-talet.

Här fann vi klassiker som War of the worlds,

Invasion of the body snat-chers, Blade Runner, Aliens, Solaris och såklart Star Wars. Men som det mör-kaste hörn av rymden kom 90-talet, fyllt av klyschor och dåligt utförda rymdfi l-mer, med undantag för den något underskattade fi lmen Event Horizon.

Men efter regn...

2002 började teveappara-terna sända en serie kallad Firefl y. Missad av många, älskad av de som såg den. Serien lades ner innan för-sta säsongen hade hunnit bli färdigfi lmad, men den läm-nade helt klart ett avtryck på alla i branschen och på de som tittade. Serien var skapad med glöd och själ, den var djärvt fi lmad,

medvetet skakig och ofoku-serad. Detta medförde att det kändes väldigt jordnära. Firefl y var fröet som genren behövde, nu återstod bara att vänta.

Åren som skulle komma nu skulle visa sig vara gen-rens kanske fi naste och bäs-ta. Blade Runner i all ära, men när den (i per-sonligt tycke) nästan perfekta sci-ence-fi ction fi lmen Serenity kom i mitten av 2000-talet var det som om himlen blottade sig och visade det vackraste.

Att Spielbergs remake på Världarnas Krig och Lucas avslutande del i Star Wars sagan dessutom kom nästan samtidigt som tidi-gare nämnda fi lm, var rena rama himmelriket för oss sci-fi nördar.

Nu kunde man känna det ända in i fi ngertopparna, nu jäklar i lingonskogen!

Mycket riktigt så kom fl er vågor av sci-fi fi lmer, däribland Danny Boyles

Sunshine, som fortfarande är bland det snyggaste jag själv någonsin skådat på fi lm.

Vi känner alla till att på senare tid har inte bara två installationer av de utom-jordiska Transformers fått

sitt på duken, utan även en fj ärde Termi-nator-fi lm och en un-derbar reboot

av Star Trek har fått till det. Alla dessa, med stark sup-port av andra starka fi lmer, som Wall-E, Cloverfi eld, Children of Me, District 9 och Minority Report, be-visar att vi står inför ännu en guldfärgad era av dessa rymdens barn.

Säg hejdå till 2000-talet, säg hej till 2010-talet. De-cenniet då science-fi ction slår tillbaka.

Och skräcken. Men det, mina barn, är en annan historia.
