At Turning Point we believe individuals need outstanding support and treatment to go through the psychological and physical crises that accompany alcohol and drug withdrawals. We understand that supporting people effectively through the withdrawal medical stage is vital to their long term stability and the first important step towards abstinent recovery. We provide a safe, person centred and therapeutic medical withdrawal programme that helps individuals to achieve a better quality of life through medically managed detoxes and therapeutic rehab services.
There are a wide range of choices in residential substance misuse treatment. Turning Point rehabs provide:
End to end delivery: We go the extra mile to work with people before, during and after placement to ensure the most is gained from a placement with us. This is evidenced by our Pre-hab, Rehab and Post-hab workbooks.
Are flexible to the individual: There is no one journey through a rehab placement – we get to know our service users and help them focus on the goals they want to achieve. Our therapeutic approach empowers choice. We are here to make abstinent recovery a reality for every person we meet.
Promoting asset-based recovery: We show people what assets they already have to draw on, such as family relationships, qualifications and self-determination. Throughout a rehab stay, we will help add to these.
Promoting independence and community engagement: Our rehabs are a safe environment from which people can practice independent living free of substances and engage with the community around them.

“I knew that I was on the road to recovery when I managed to start sleeping through the night because it just felt so good. To have real sleep, you know the kind when you are so deep that you feel peaceful and rested in the morning. I’ve even had some dreams. I’ve not had a dream or been able to remember one for years. I use to drink to knock myself out. I’m really happy now that I don’t need to do that or take sleeping tablets. I’m now healthier following my detox and sometimes I have a smile on my face!”

Our rehabs are welcoming, friendly, supportive and safe. As a service user once said,
“This house heals if you let it.”
“The staff at Smithfield were so very helpful, caring and kind. My stay was a pleasure and very positive. Staff did everything they could to help and make my stay comfortable, informative, positive and memorable. Their kindness I will always remember. I had first wanted a home detox, but for medical reasons I wasn’t allowed one. I am so grateful now that I was given a place at Smithfield. I will highly recommend it to people I may know who are in the position I was in a few weeks ago. Thank you so much for helping me with my journey and enabling me to get my life back and look forward to a bright future.”
Andrew
