Ibbotson model menus: sharing fiduciary responsibilitiesSelecting a menu of investment options for your retirement plan can be challenging. It’s important to meet your responsibility as a fiduciary while also allowing plan participants to seek the best possible outcomes for their retirement savings. TIAA-CREF can help you find that balance.

We have established a strategic relationship with Ibbotson Associates that gives you the option of sharing fiduciary responsibility for your plan’s investment menu selection. Ibbotson, an independent research company now part of Morningstar, Inc., is an authority on asset allocation and portfolio implementation.

Ibbotson has applied its industry-recognized due diligence process to create three model menus: Basic, Standard and Complex. These investment menus are designed to help meet your plan’s investment objectives as well as the diverse needs of plan participants. If you implement one of the three menus, Ibbotson will sign an Advisory Services agreement with your organization and assume co-fiduciary responsibility for the menu and the investment options included in it (providing assurance that it represents appropriate diversity and prudent investment opportunity). 1

If you prefer to take on the fiduciary responsibility of creating your own menus, Ibbotson also offers a selected list of investment options you can use to create them. Read on to learn about each menu’s key features and advantages.
