McCray said skill is important but not the only factor in building a program. “When you have that will to fight for it and that grit, that alone can change the culture of a program,” she said. “I’m not going to let up on these kids. They may think people have given up on them. Hey, I’m not that indi- vidual. I’m here with new vibes. I want nothing but positivity for these kids, build them up, and cor- rect them when they’re doing things wrong. Who knows? We may shock a lot of people.” Cray prefers a fast- paced, up-and-down style of play but isn’t locked into it. “... These practices include social distancing in workouts, temperature checks, pre-screening techniques, providing hand sanitizer stations, no shared water and working in small groups.
