You really need to put the time in, frankly the review classes are good but de�nitely not enough.

The ASHRAE books, for sure. De�nitely would have passed the �rst time if I had those on me, and would have been more con�dent about passing this time around if I knew those better.

The test wont be similar to any of the sample exams. Its a bit of a curve ball exam. Dont rely on sample exams to tell yourself that youre ready for the exam.

The best thing to study would have been to be familiar with your resources and know how to look up a topic that youve never seen before

It wasnt an easy test. I went thru the Engineer Pro guides twice and made a binder full of the topics and equations covered in the guide. It was my main reference manual. It helped tremendously. Alot of the test couldnt have been covered in any study guide as they were very random questions that tested your ability to use your resources.

Engg Pro Guides material was very good and on point for the PE exam. I did not have any unnecessary material. MERM has so much material not needed for the PE exam. It can make the exam more di�cult than it is and the exam taker may be spending a lot of hours reading stuff not needed for the exam. One area of improvement could be describing the equation assumptions in the formula sheet. Example (0 feet or 5000 feet). Also better formatting the equations.

Don't read the MERM like a book, use it as a REFERENCE - just do practice problems and use the MERM to �ll in gaps in your knowledge or �gure out tough problems. This will save you hours of boredom and better prepare you for quickly referencing chapters you may need during the test.

I wish I had looked into some of the ASHRAE HVAC Systems and Equipment book a little more before the exam so that I could better reference it for speci�c questions. My weakest point was de�nitely equipment components.

For one, that engineering pro guides existed. But I also wished I had known that the HVAC and Refrigeration test format changed (maybe a year or two ago) to be all HVAC and Refrigeration focused, and not have questions on other areas of mechanical engineering. I spent a little too much time going over those sections in the MERM.

I very much enjoyed the pro guides, I felt it narrowed the study topics. Unfortunately, I only used the pro guides and the NCEES Sample exam to study. I should have also did all the problems in the MERM. The pro guides sample exam and the NCEES sample exam almost mirrored each other and I felt that that would be su�cient material for the test but that was not the case.

I should have utilized the MERM more.

The practice exam and the pro guides exams were not similar. It did prepare me but I should have studied more with the MERM. The next time I will focus more on this as well.

It was the only guide i studied for the last couple of weeks and took the practice exam. Very useful and to the point of study. Morning exam was pretty similar to the materials in study guide, afternoon was a lot different. I kind of feel the study Engg pro guide should a little more material to the user on the equipment and engineering application of HVAC concepts and theories. Fundamental HVAC Theory and concepts wise it is very good, but applying it to different equipment and solving problems needs a bit more coverage. Honestly, I have to thank the team for this guide. Good last minute handy tool for any engineer working in PE to brush your skills and sit for the exam.

I over studied on Thermodynamics and most of the 6-minute solutions and MERM practice problems are far more complicated then found on actual test.

Additionally, some chapter problems didn't seem to correlate with the chapter itself (the only one I can remember right now is condensation questions happening in 2 locations but only being discussed in 1 chapter much later).

Don't fall into the trap of only practicing what you are good at. Get used to getting out of your comfort zone. The actual exam mostly de�nitely will.

Nothing really. I felt very well prepared and came away from both AM and PM feeling very con�dent.

Study with the goal of achieving 100%. Forget about cut lines, etc.
