School Council Meeting TONIGHT

School Council Update March 8, 2012

By-Laws Committee

Update After consulting with some experts on the subject, we have prepared a draft of potential revisions to the School Council by-laws. The proposed revisions were developed to add clarity to the roles and responsibilities of the School Council and to define the role of important new sub-committees, including Communications and Education Quality Assurance. We anticipate circulating the revised by-laws to the School Council for input in the next month or two. If you have feedback on the by-laws, please contact Doug Patch at [email protected].

Marketing Committee Update We work in conjunction with Laura Rowe, our Associate Director of Enrollment, and the Parent’s Association’s Newcomer committee. We are currently in the busiest time of year, following up a successful Catholic Schools week and Open House, and with finalizing the registration of our current students as well as bringing in new students in the lower grades. We currently have very strong classes of over 30 students in both 4K and 5K, which is a great foundation for future years. This year we have worked to spread the word about our school through advertising, Preschool Story Time, the Preschool fair, continuous contact with our young parish families, and for the first time a Lumen Christi display window at Weyenberg Library. Through the rest of the year we will be focusing on development of an alumni database to further spread the word on our school. Please contact Maria Greisch at [email protected] if interested in this sub-committee.

6:30pm Dominiak Hall

On the agenda

- First 20 minutes is an open agenda for any topic, including from guest

March 1, 2012 Dear Interested 5th-8th Grade Track Participants, We hope everyone is excited to begin the track season! The coaches this year will be Wendy Kennedy and Andy Starsky. In order to complete registration for track, we need the registration form/t-shirt order form completed and a track sports fee of $40.00. If your child has not competed in a sport at Lumen Christi this year, it will be necessary to go to the school website, print, fill out, and turn in the Archdiocese Athletic Forms. It is imperative that we get these returned so that the track t-shirts are able to be ordered and completed before our first meet. Please have these turned in by March 16, 2012. Practice will begin March 27. We will have practices on Tuesdays and Fridays. The times of the practices will be communicated as soon as we have confirmed availability of the Homestead track. The practice and meet schedule are being finalized. When this finalizes, we will be sending out a parent volunteer helper sign up sheet. We had about 60 kids last year and may have that many this year as well. We are looking forward to a great season. Please direct any questions to Wendy Kennedy (262-238-8659 or [email protected]) or Andy Starsky ([email protected]) Sincerely, Wendy Kennedy & Andy Starsky
