A.G.M. President Oaphne Foulsham welcomed a packed hall of members to the 40th AGM, then Chairman RichardTabor read his yearly report, as follows:-

Welcome everyone. I would like to take the opportunity now to bring you up to date with some of the Federation events.

Last year Brian Deaville drew attention to the good use clubs were making of their websites to promote their activities and

now the Federation has its own website, thanks to Beth and Mark Otway. I do hope that all clubs will make full use of itsfacilities to publicise their events, as well as keeping an eye open on what other clubs are doing. Information should not

stop with the Club Secretaries - please make sure everyone can see the Newsletter. In March a large audience came to hear Tom Hart Dyke, and were fascinated by hearing his adventures and the work he iscarrying out at Lullingstone Castle. Then' in August many of our members enjoyed the Barnett Hill gardens, and tea on the

terrace on a fine summer's afternoon.I was personally delighted to attend as your representative the zo" anniversary celebrations of the Onslow Village club inJuly, as well as visiting the Caterham Village District Summer Show.During the meeting you will hear some of ourplans for the forthcoming year, but in the meantime I would like to concludeby extending my warm thanks to our President Daphne Foulsham, to Janet our untiring Secretary, and all the committeewho have helped me settle in during my first year as Chairman. Finally it has been particularly pleasing to see Roy Lomax

back in much improved health this year.

Treasurer's Report. A copy of the audited accounts was circulated and agreed by members.Katharine reported that the Federation currently has £4,345.78 in hand. The total Income for the past year was up to£2,301.00 made up of subscriptions and donations from clubs and entrance fees for lectures and raffles. Expenditure was£2,251.00 so the net result was a small surplus of £51 over the year. Yet again no increase in subscriptions is proposed for2016. Kathy gave her thanks to Auditor John Manches, who was re-elected.

Election of Officers and Council Members. This year the Chairman and Treasurer are within term, but Secretary Janet Armhad completed another 3 years in office but was willing to stand again. This was proposed by Richard Tabor, seconded bySusan Holmes and agreed. The Council Members (who stand for a single year): Roy Lomax, Pam Lomax, Anne Bradbeer,Nicky Cornell, Paul Yeoman, Barbara Boyse, Beth Otway and Jane Swift all stated they were willing to stand again.

secretary's report on Future Events. Our first event of the year will be our Spring Talk and we think we have made a good choice in asking Jekka McVicar to giveus a special talk entitled 'Herbs for All Reasons'. We hope you will come and hear her - she has her own herb nursery insouth' Gloucestershire, and last year did her first show garden at Chelsea, which won her a Silver gilt medal.

We are trying to confirm our summer Garden Visit. (Venue now confirmed - see item later in this Newsletter.)

Next week Anne Bradbeer and I will be representing the Federation at an RHSMeeting of specialist nurseries and otherorganisations at Wisley. We are the only Federation there, so it does keep our name in front of others.

I do hope you have all now looked at our new website, and there is now a sample template on it for you to complete andreturn with your own events. We are not including commercial events- this website is for you to use so please make sure

we have the address of your website and a copy of your events list so that the details can go into the Newsletters. The Feedback forms have been popular this year, please lets have more as they are a good way of finding new speakers, however I think Geoff Peach Chairman of the Surrey Guild of Judges and Lecturers has a few comments:

At this point Geoff asked whether the forms could also be sent to the Lecturers Guild (there is already a note about this onthe bottom of the form and they also get the Newsletter) as they like to know how their members are performing. He felt

that although some slides may be older, as long as the subject is clear they should be acceptable. He also wondered if thescoring system reflects the feeling of all the audience. He finally asked whether any of the members present had consideredbecoming judges -they would be welcomed and monitored throughout their training.

Any other business. Debbie Fox said that East Surrey trying to form a local group of clubs and asked for support from theSHF. It was also noted that many club's shows are on the same date, but this is a matter for them to discusswith their localarea. Debbie also suggested Chris Baines be considered as a speaker for a future Spring Talk.

went to Merrow. The teams were presented with cheques, and the audience winners their prizes. Well done everyone.
