PRINCIPAL’S THOUGHTS

Next week, commencing on Monday 14 August we will have 43 Grade 6 students will leave at 6:30 am heading on the Sturt Highway through Euston, Hay, Narrandera, Wagga Wagga & onto the Hume Motor-way to Canberra. On Day 5 they will return to school on Friday 18 August at approx. 4:30 pm. Staff attending the Canberra Trip are Miss Erin King, Mr Mat McLeod, Mr Toby Cardew & Ms Gels Timpano. This trip will complement our term three curriculum in the classrooms. Trips like these have been planned by teachers to give students an awesome experience and students will come home with many great stories to tell. We wish all a safe and enjoyable time! MSP Photography completed our School photos today. We hope that parents will be very pleased with the final product. Having every student in school uniform highlighted the pride we have in our school. We will notify parents via the newsletter when photos are available. Congratulations to all our Prep students who this week have completed 100 days of school. Since the first day this year, they have come on in ‘leaps and bounds’ with the huge growth in their learning, especially learning new ‘cool’ things such as new words, new numbers and writing a lot more. Special thanks to our Prep teachers for the time, energy and effort they put into improving the learning of our Prep students. We are continuing to take enrolments for our 2018 Prep Classes from our neighbourhood area. Please inform any family, friends and neighbours that if they have a child starting school next year and would like them to come to our school to enrol them as soon as possible. Even better, put the word out there to come and attend our Prep Come & Try Days this Monday 14 August from 9:30 to 10:30 am and/ or Tuesday 29 August 2017 from 9:30 – 10:30 am. Both these days will enable next year’s Preps to participate in classroom and outside activities, have a school tour and get further enrolment information. During this week and next week, all students have been involved in our ongoing assessment pro-gram. Through a variety of tests, each child will be able to show how their learning has progressed in both literacy and numeracy. Teachers use the data collected from the testing program at the beginning of each term to plan teaching and learning that is directed to the needs of each child. We have been very pleased with the way the children have fo-cussed on doing their best in each test. We invite all parents and friends to come along to school tomorrow (Friday 11 August 2017) to support students at our annual Athletics Sports. The children look forward to having parents watch them compete. In order to run a successful day we require assis-tance from parents/ guardians with the supervision of the events and age groups - There are still some vacancies for parent helpers during the day tomorrow. Please contact Miss Corinne Shore after school today or in the morning if you can assist.

RESILIENCE

Ranfurly Primary School is once again participating in Woolworths’ Earn and Learn Program. The Program provides educational resources to participating schools and commences July 26, 2017. Parents, Grandparents, Carers and Friends are encouraged to collect Earn & Learn Stickers as they shop; stick them on to Sticker Sheets available from the front office and return them when they are completed. The more we collect as a community the more Science, Sports, Mathematics, English and Arts resources our school will be eligible for.
