Three Distinct Committees Goals were similar and activities overlapping Confusion as to the distinct purpose of each group Recognition of common data needs The combined committee will focus on three major areas, all included in the Matriculation Plan: 1) student equity, 2) completion and retention; 3) student engagement. After discussion and evaluation of the charge and focus of each of the committees, there was consensus that it makes sense to combine these three committees. There was continued discussion as to what to name it, and the makeup of the committee. The name Student Equity and Success was recommended. It was determined that the makeup of the committee will include members from the current committees, and college-wide representation, as follows: 2 Faculty: Kathy Henderson (ESL), John Nakahama (Math) 2 Classified: Kelvin Tran, Christine Flores (or the A&R Director) 2 Student Support: Bianka Guardino, Alicia Martinez (Counselors) 2 Students: TBA 1 Research rep: Daniel Peck Chair of the committee: Daniel Sanidad First adopted in 2005 Review of data and plan update in 2007 Data update in 2009 Goal 1: Access Goal 2: Course Completion (Retention) Goal 3: ESL & Basic Skills Successful Completion (passing grade) Goal 4: Degree and Certificate Completion Goal 5: Transfer Using original activities for goals is increasingly a bit of fitting a round peg into a square hole Are the activities an accurate reflection of current need? Do the activities reflect recent Title V Grant and AANAPISI developments? We have not been directly monitoring these items We can update progress, but more important to set new goals which we choose to monitor Need for syncing with Matriculation requirements Many similar elements
