CAR FREE DAY22nd September will be an opportunity to find another way for Car to be free. Just one day to get around the town , leaving the cars at home and just walk or take a bus or a train or even a cycle. All this will help us to highlight the pollution caused by the cars, not just the fumes but the whole cycle of waste and disruption, the noise, delayed journeys, the whole human misery caused by the CAR pollution.Almost 40% of the transport sector,CO2 emissions are produced by the use of private cars in cities. If you can avoid using cars on the 22nd even for just one journey, you’ll be helping reducing pollution in your area

A DAY WITHOUT CARS

Can one day will be car free So that, the earth can also breatheCan one day will be pollution free

So that the nature is proud on theeGod has already given us two golden feet

But can we try to use them pleaseNo matter, how high petrol price strikesGolden feet are always by your side...

No honking, no traffic,No accidents and no problems,

This will only come trueWhen to the 'CAR FREE DAY' you'll

contribute...

THE SOUND OF SILENCEHave you ever longed to walk down to the town,

Without noisy cars on the road,Or stood on the edge of the pavement,

Dodging lorries with heavy loads? If you long for the sound of silence,

Join a car free day on Sunday,Feel the wind as it blows in your hair,

Give your car a rest on Sunday ,As your car needs a little rest too, Why not walk instead of driving,

And you won’t miss your car , will you? Think of the fumes you will not breathe in ,

As you walk care free on the road,Without the smell of petrol fumes,

Which our lungs finds hard to unload

Green Fact #1: In 2011, the United States consumed 99 Quadrillion Btus (British thermal units) of energy, mostly in the form of fossil fuels such as coal, natural gas, and oil. One Btu is equivalent to the energy released by burning one match. So, the United State’s annual energy consumption adds up to a mind boggling 99,000,000,000,000,000 matches. That’s 271 trillion each day, or roughly 1 million matches per person per day.Green Fact #2: A governmental study calculated that the gasoline equivalent of the lifetime energy savings offered by using a single 24 watt compact fluourescent lamp (CFL) in lieu of a 100 watt incandescent bulb would be sufficient to drive a Toyota Prius (a hybrid car) from Delhi to Bangalore. Replacing that 100 Watt bulb with a CFL will prevent the release of 800 pounds of carbon dioxide over the CFL’s operating life.Green Fact #3: According to the American Solar Energy Society, the amount of sunlight that falls on the Earth’s surface in one minute is sufficient to meet world energy demand for an entire year.Green Fact #4: The computer you’re using right now, in all the years you’ll own it, will never consume more energy than was required to create it. The production of a single computer also uses 42,000 gallons of water. Please recycle your used electronics and turn them off when not in use.
