IDP 2011 Year in R

Thank you Donors
The Idaho Democra-c Party is on a well-‐structured, prosperous path forward and we couldn’t be more thrilled! We have seen growth and success in every area of opera-ons within our organiza-on.
Our 2011 D.E.M (Donate Every Month) drives have been an enormous success. We have grown our D.E.M Club significantly this year! We have welcomed back life long Democrats and greeted newly converted Democrats. We have warmly received pledges of $1 a month all the way to $1000 a month. Whatever amount works for your budget works for us. Everything our members do helps to make our Party a stronger, more relevant force in our State.
We are working to maximize your contribu-on by encouraging others to join us on our journey to transform poli-cs in the State of Idaho. We encourage you to help spread the word and get Idaho Democrats around our state thinking about what they can do to help grow our Party and elect more Idaho Democrats to offices around our State.
We want to thank each one of you for being a part of our team as we move forward. Together we are stronger and by joining our dollars, -me, energy, ideas and enthusiasm we can accomplish so much more. As this journey con-nues please remember that your feedback is a vital part of the process. Please don’t hesitate to email or call me with your ideas.
Sincerely,
Execu-ve Director

IDAHODemocratic Party
This has been a year full of new and exci-ng experiences. The staff and leadership has spent -me assessing our organiza-on and discussing priori-es with our ac-vists. We have developed an Opera-onal Plan to move us forward and are excited to see our Coun-es develop their own plans. 2012 will be a year full of opportuni-es and we are poised to take advantage of them. As the year comes to a close I am filled with gra-tude. Here is my top ten list of things to be thankful for in 2011.
10. The opportuni-es the GOP gives us almost every day to hold them accountable for their offenses and misdeeds.
9. That Idaho voters will have the opportunity to repeal the Luna educa-on bills in 2012.
8. For all of our precinct captains & other Democra-c ac-vists & volunteers around the State who proudly carry our banner, even in parts of the State where it can be a lonely job.
7. For all the candidates out there -‐ past, present & future -‐ who dedicate their -me & energy to run on the Democra-c -cket, trying to make Idaho a be]er place.
6. My IDP staff-‐ Shelley, Sally, Marie, Ma], Jill, & Lance who do the hard work every day.
5. Jeanne Buell, Susan Eastlake, Pete Gertonson, & Carolyn Boyce who help me provide leadership within the IDP.
4. For all of our County Chairs, Legisla-ve District Chairs, State Commi]eemen & Commi]eewomen who volunteer to organize our party & recruit candidates.
3. Our Democra-c Legislators who ba]le every year to do what is right & be a voice of reason in the statehouse.
2. Our Redistric-ng commissioners who took on the tough job: Allen Andersen, George Moses, Julie Kane, Ron Beitlespacher, Shauneen Grange, & Elmer Mar-nez.
1. Our D.E.M. Club members who invest in our party every month.
Winning RacesDemocrats won mul-ple school board and city council races around the state. We are building our future legislators and governors one race at a -me.
New ToolsA new website that is regularly updated keeps our members informed of ac-vi-es and issues throughout the state. A forum and google group allow members of our State Central Commi]ee to share ideas easily. The Weekly Update and monthly newsle]er, The Blue Review allows us reaches out to our ac-vists regularly.
Strategic Planning SessionsIn order to move forward we had to look backwards. We traveled the state talking to Democrats, looking at our strengths and weaknesses and gathering wisdom from our members. We didn’t want to re-‐invent the wheel just make sure the vehicle it was on was fuel efficient. It is important that we u-lize our staff and resources strategically to be effec-ve.
Idaho Young DemocratsThis summer the Idaho Young Democrats received their official charter in Kentucky. One of the largest demographics of the Democra>c Party is young people. The IDYD firmly believes that its development will result in higher voter turn-‐out among the youth.
Buy Blue Online Auc-onWe held our first online auc-on this holiday season. It was a wonderful success. Thank you to all those that donated items and chose to par-cipate. We look forward to doing this again.
Email Collec-onWe have doubled the amount of Democrats we can reach through email. This allows us to send call to ac-ons, candidate informa-on, issue informa-on and of course donor requests.
Social MediaWe have focused on providing up to date mul--‐media content on both our Facebook and TwiBer pages. We have doubled our members in both places with 3,600 Facebook friends and 984 Twi]er followers. We also have a You-‐Tube channel and Flickr account to keep all of our media content readily available to members and the public.
Holding the GOP AccountableDemocra-c ac-vists worked -relessly on the Recall and Referendum efforts. We were able to organize and iden-fy new members as well as give Idahoans the opportunity to have a say in the future of Idaho’s educa-on system. We also distributed a brochure that showed all the GOP mis-‐steps in recent years.

The IDP has completed our
Opera-onal Plan and many areas
of the plan are already in place.
This plan focuses on five strategic
objec-ves to accomplish the
vision intended to carry us
through 2016.
It includes:
★Reframing our Democra-c
message and working with
elected officials, candidates and
partner organiza-ons so we all
speak with one, compelling voice.
★Strengthen county par-es to
support local candidates, recruit
volunteers, generate press and
u-lize media.
★Develop a strong and effec-ve
outreach program. Use the 2010
Census as a basis and target fast-‐
growing groups, par-cularly
Hispanics and Young Democrats.
★Develop an extensive pool of
qualified, ethical, and well-‐
experienced Democra-c local and
state leaders to run for office at
every level.
★Aggressively seek funding from
a variety of sources to maximize
resources and stabilize budget.
This Plan is the culmina-on of
effort of a significant number of
commi]ed and passionate Idaho
Democrats. It presents a road
map for success but recognizes
that any authen-c strategic
planning process is an on-‐going
journey, not a des-na-on. We
hope you will join us on that
journey!
