Family Fun This March Break Resident Reps Needed Sustainable Waste Management Strategy Community Liaison Committee The City of Barrie is developing a Sustainable Waste Management Strategy that will promote effective, efficient, and sustainable change to Barrie’s waste collection, diversion and disposal over the next 20 years. An important part of the development of this Strategy will be consultation with the community and other stakeholders. A keycomponent of this consultation will be development of a Community Liaison Committee. Beginning in March, the Committee will meet several times this year to review information and make recommendations to assist in the development of the Strategy. The City is looking for residents aware of waste management issues in their neighborhood, and keen to contribute to this important planning process,to participate in this Committee. Interested residents are encouraged to submit an application letter or email detailing their interest in waste management issues, and why they would be an effective Resident Representative, to Sandy Coulter, no later than Friday, March11th, 2011. The first meeting will occur approximately two weeks after applications are due. Two-Hour Camp Samplers: Children 6 – 12 can sample one of Barrie’s many camps offered throughout the summer. East Bayfield, Holly and Lampman Lane community centres proudly offer March Break Samplers, two-hour sessions that range in variety from Camp Cuisine to Dodgeball Camp and more. This is the perfect opportunity to drop the kids off and relax. Fun Workshops: Holly and East Bayfield offer People Savers, a 4-level program developed by the Canadian Red Cross that teaches kids from the ages of 5 – 12 safety awareness and first aid skills. For children 7-11 years old, East Bayfield is hosting Director’s Cut, Rock…Paper…Scissors Stop Animation class. This one day workshop will appeal to future film- makers and artists. Residents are invited to attend a Public Information Centre to discuss the current Community Garden Policy and Program and provide comments on extending the program into other parks within the city.Four new park locations will be presented

through a slide show presentation at 7:00 pm and drawing displays.
