First, I added up the prices for popcorn, chips, and licorice. My sum was $1.80. Next, I divided $1.80 by 3 since there were 3 items which I added. When I divided, I made sure that I lined up my decimals. My answer was $0.60. This means that the average cost of food is sixty cents.

First, I added up the prices for soda and juice. My sum was $1.10. Next, I divided $1.10 by 2 since there were 2 items which I added. When I divided, I made sure that I lined up my decimal. My answer was $0.55. This means that the average cost of drinks is fifty-five cents.
