when we will prayerfully return our Time, Talent & Treasure commitments during the offertory of the Mass. Thank you for your good stewardship of IHM!

During this season of Stewardship Renewal, we are providing information in this space about how you can return to God the many blessings you enjoy through your gift of Time & Talent at IHM. This week we explore the Stewardship Pillar.

THE STEWARDSHIP PILLAR

Finance Council—provides consultation to the Pastor and Principal in the stewardship of our fiscal resources. This Council meets every other month and communicates on an ongoing basis for financial decisions between meetings.

Pastoral Council—The Code of Cannon Law suggests, and the Archdiocese of Atlanta mandates, that each parish have a Pastoral Council, which advises the Pastor about the present and future pastoral needs of the community.

Stewardship Commission—is a consultative ministry that works with the Pas-tor to formulate strategies to assist in the development of members of the parish as Disciples of Jesus Christ.

Legacy Committee—is a gathering of parish members who have remembered IHM Church, School or other Catholic ministries in their wills. We meet with individuals and groups to share our stories and let others know the good out-comes that are available to us by making provision for the parish and ministries dear to us in our estate planning.

Each Thursday, Dr. Louanne Bachner

leads an informative and prayerful discussion of the lectionary readings for the following Sunday. The study

meets in the Lower Level at two different times: 9:30 a.m. or 7:00 p.m.

Are you thinking about becoming Catholic? Please join us in the Lower

Level on September 26 at 7:00 to learn more about the Rite of Christian

Initiation of Adults (RCIA).

Sunday Mornings, 10:15-11:15 am IHM School Library

Part 3 of Bishop Robert Barron’s The Mass

Director Drew Denton, Ph.D. [email protected] Ext. 223

Coordinator Alicia Guerrero [email protected] Ext. 227

Youth Minister Elaine Phillips [email protected] Ext. 222

Young Adult Coordinator Kathy Guerrero [email protected] Ext. 241 Faith Formation Program Assistant Veronica Thimann [email protected] Ext. 236

Q When are inquirers ready for the next stage of the initiation process?

A When inquirers feel ready to publicly state their sincere desire to follow Jesus Christ, when they show evi-dence of first faith and conversion and an intention to con-form their lives to Christ and the Gospel, they are ready for the next step: the Rite of Acceptance into the Order of Catechumens. This rite can be celebrated two or three time during the year—whenever an inquirer is ready. For more information about the process of Christian Initiation at IHM, contact Drew Denton in the parish office.

RCIA SPONSORS NEEDED! Do you love your Catholic faith? Are you encouraged by the growing number of people who are joining the Catholic Church as adults? We need your help to wel-come our newest members. As an RCIA Sponsor you will be paired with a candi-date (baptized adult from another Christian tradition) or a catechumen (unbaptized adult) whom you will accompany through the process of sacramental initiation. You do not have to be an “expert” or a perfect example. All you need is a willingness to support, pray for, and connect someone to our Catholic com-munity. For more information about Christian Initiation at IHM, contact Drew Denton in the parish office.

BISHOP BARRON’S—THE MASS Join us in the school library, 10:15-11:15 a.m., for Part 3 of this 6-part series. Whether you are a lifelong Mass-goer or a newly initi-ated Catholic, you will come away with a deepened appreciation for the “source and summit” of our faith.

WHY IS THE DEATH PENALTY “INADMISSIBLE”? Professor Steffen Lösel Presented by the Aquinas Center of Theology October 9, 7:30 - 9:00 p.m. IHM Lower Level Pope Francis recently approved a re-wording of The Catechism of the Catholic Church to state that “The death penalty is inadmissible because it is an attack on the inviolability and dignity of the person.” What is the significance of this devel-opment in Catholic teaching? And why make it now? Dr. Lösel will offer his per-spective on the historical, theological, and political context of this revision before inviting group discussion and a Q&A session.
