GOSPEL: Luke 24:13-35 As two downhearted disciples journey to Emmaus, a stranger joins them. To him they pour out all their crushed hopes about Jesus who has been crucified and whom they miss so much. After listening carefully to their story, the stranger tells them that they are slow to "believe all that the prophets have announced." He then explains the Scripture to them. The disciples are delighted with the stranger's teach-ing. But they do not realize that the stranger is Jesus until he takes bread, blesses it, breaks it, and gives it to them. At Mass the priest does this very same thing today. At Mass we too meet Jesus along the road of our lives, and Jesus gives himself to us through these very actions. 1.) Our friends can either lead us to walk with Jesus or to walk away from him. How do you support and help your friends in walking with Jesus? How do they support and help you? 2.) How do you show that you, too, recognize Jesus in the breaking of the bread at the celebration of the Eucharist?

For Your Information:

What A Journey It Has Been...

How time has flown! Back in 1999 under the supervision of the late Monsignor Bruce

A. Dreier, the parish committed to the con-struction of the new building Nano Nagle Hall, which contains the two eighth grade classrooms, the school library, the school science lab, and the gymnasium. The first capital campaign was launched to pay the

construction costs. Unfortunately, the funds were insufficient and we were left with a $1

million debt. In 2007 a second campaign was initiated to pay off the remaining debt.

Things were going well, we had great sup-port and enthusiasm. However, it was in the middle of the campaign when our economy became unstable. We pray for the families who were affected by it and who are still

feeling its effects. In a similar manner, we are still feeling the repercussions as a parish

family. As part of our Centennial Celebra-tion, we reached out to you, our Parishion-ers, to continue to commit to eliminate this debt. By God’s grace, your generosity and continuing support, we have been able to reduce the debt to $100,000.00! Recently, the Archdiocese has notified us that they

would like our debt to be paid off this year as it was a 15 year loan. We understand that

this is a lot to ask of your already generous and giving self, but we are asking you to help

us AGAIN. If you have a current pledge, we are hoping that you can pay it off this year or

increase the amount you are giving each payment. If you have not yet pledged, we ask that you join in solidarity to help our

parish family and make a pledge or a gift. If you are unable to help financially, your

prayers are more than sufficient. Remember that WE are the church. Take a closer look at the word church: ch-U R-ch. YOU are at the center of it! Without you we are incomplete.

God bless you and your families always!

“Jesus looked up and saw the rich putting their gifts into the offering box, and he saw a poor

widow put in two small copper coins. And he said, “Truly, I tell you, this poor widow has put in more than all of them. For they all contributed out of

their abundance, but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on.” – Luke 21:1-4
