IMPORTANT NOTICE
Change in Saturday Vigil Mass Time
Several weeks ago parishioners where given the opportunity to vote on whether the Saturday
Vigil Mass should remain at 5:30 PM or be changed to 4:30 PM.
Based on the results, beginning Saturday, January 4, the Saturday Vigil Mass will now be
at 4:30 PM.
Please share this change with fellow parishioners, family and friends.
Beginning January 4, Holy Martyrs weekend Mass schedule is as follows:
Saturday Vigil Mass at 4:30 PM
Sunday Masses at 7:30 AM, 9:30 AM, 11:30 AM and 5:00 PM Youth Mass
Thank you to all HM Kids and Families, Parishioners and Friends who donated and assisted with
our outreach this year to the poor for the Thanksgiving Turkey Run and Christmas gifts and

Religious give thanks. “’Thank
you’ hardly seems adequate to
convey what it means to us,“ says
a Catholic sister of the financial
assistance her community
received from the Retirement
Fund for Religious. Prayer-filled
thanks for your donation to last
week’s second collection.

Cooking for Domestic Violence Survivors
The Latina Project, an outreach by the women of
Holy Martyrs and our sister parish, La Sagrada
Familia, provides a meal once a month during a
support meeting for women who are survivors of
domestic violence.
You can help by providing part of a light meal,
spending time with the women or babysitting
during their meeting. The next meeting is
Dec.16th. An invitation to help is emailed to
parishioners each month.
Food needs to be dropped off at Holy Martyrs
before 1 p.m. Sunday and until 3 p.m. Monday
before each meeting. Please contact Diane Bruce at
[email protected] if you would like to help.
Red Stocking Collection
A collection will be taken
during this weekend of
Dec. 14/15 to help our
neighbors in need.
For many years, the Red
Stocking has been a symbol
for the Ministry of Assistance
to ask parishioners for funds
to help the poor during the
winter months ahead.
Although we may do a bit
m o r e t o h e l p o u r
parishioners, we do not turn
our back on anyone else
within Medina County who
may need help.
Christ reminds us that the
poor will always be with us,
but it is in how we respond
to the poor that makes us true Christians.
Thank you for your generosity!
Please Remember: Two Envelopes at Christmas
Each Christmas, the people of Holy Martyrs share their generosity in many ways. In addition to the
regular Sunday envelopes that fund our parish programs through the year, we rely on the
extraordinary support of our people at Christmas time to help support our many activities,
ministries and special needs. Both are a vital part of what we do.
This year, Christmas falls on a Wednesday. Please remember both our normal and extraordinary
needs in planning your giving. God bless you!
Bake Sale Success
Thank you to everyone who helped with baking,
pricing or selling baked goods for the Advent Bake
Sale. Also, thank you to those who purchased the
baked goods! You helped us raise $1,054.00
for Holy Martyrs.

Celebrating Advent
Here are some ideas for helping your child make the
most of Advent.
Give kids opportunities to be part of Advent
preparations.
Ask them to help their parents to wait for the
Lord by being helpful and listening.
Spend time with Jesus in six minutes in prayer as
a family using the "Pray As You Go" app.
Go to www.dynamiccatholic.com and sign up for
the "Best Advent Ever" emails.
If you missed celebrating the sacrament of
Reconciliation, come to confession at 4 p.m. on
Dec. 21.
SPIRIT Brown Bag Lunch Project
During our SPIRIT session this
evening, the SPIRIT students,
Core Team and I will be putting
together brown bagged lunches
for St. Bernard’s in Akron.
St. Bernard’s Church will distribute the lunches to the
homeless. Thank you and God Bless you for your
continued support in our monthly mission.
On Sunday, Dec 8, 2019, the SPIRIT students
discussed the "Divine Mercy Chaplet". We played a
game that involved the students relying on each other
with some being blindfolded and others not being
blindfolded. We finished the evening in the chapel
praying the Chaplet of Divine Mercy. The kids were
so reverent in the chapel and you could feel the real
presence of Jesus. Our next Spirit session on
Sunday Dec 15, 2019 will be about the Solemnity of
the Body and Blood of Christ. We will also be
assembling our brown bagged lunches for the
homeless and less fortunate. We will have SPIRIT on
Dec 22, 2019 and then will have time off for
Christmas break. We do plan on having a fun activity
for the students over Christmas break with more
information to come.
