TheNE1032usesawirespeed,nonblockingswitchingfabricthatprovidessimultaneouswirespeedtransportofmultiplepacketsatlowlatencyonallports.

Port ConfigurationTheNE1032containsthefollowingethernetports:

Thirtytwo10GigabitEthernet(GbE)SmallFormPluggablePlus(SFP+)portswhichalsosupportlegacy1GbEconnections

Transceiver ConfigurationSFP+ports,whenusedin10GbEmode,canbepopulatedwithopticaltransceivermodulesoractiveorpassiveDirectAttachCables(DACs).Whenusedinlegacy1 GbEmode,theportscanbepopulatedwithopticalorcoppertransceivermodules.

Orientation, Airflow, and RedundancyTheNE1032is1Uinheightandcanbemountedhorizontallyorvertically,dependingonyourapplication.Mountingoptionsareavailableforavarietyofracksystems.

TheminiUSBportonthefrontmanagementpanelisavailableforswitchconsolemanagement.TheportoperatesusingRS232serialcommunications.Acompatibleconsolecablekitisincludedwiththeswitch.

Toconnectacomputerorterminaltotheswitchusingtheincludedkit,firstconnecttheconsolecabletotheminiUSBportonthefrontpanel.ConnectoneendoftheCategory5patchcabletotheRJ45portontheconsolecable,andtheotherendofthepatchcabletotheRJ45toDB9adapter(seethefollowingillustration).

FansForcooling,therearpaneloftheNE1032hasthreebaysforhotswapfanmodules.Threefanmodulesarerequiredforredundancy.Whenthreefanmodulesareused,ifthereisafailureofoneofthefans,theswitchreportsthecondition,theotherfanscontinuetorun,andtheswitchcontinuestooperatenormally.

Youcanreplaceonefailedhotswapfanmodulewhiletheswitchisoperating.Ifasecondfanfails,theswitchreportstheconditionandshutsdowntopreventoverheating.

CAUTION:Besuretofinishthereplacementprocedurepromptly.Theswitchcouldoverheatifleftwithoutcoolingforanextendedperiod.

Solution:Checkthepowersupplytomakesurethatthereisaproperconnectiontothepowersource.Makesurethatpowerisavailablefromthepowersource.

Solution1:Checktheportconfigurationinthefirmware(seetheCommandReference).Iftheportisconfiguredwithaspecificspeedorduplexmode,checktheotherdevicetomakesurethatitissettothesameconfiguration.Iftheswitchportissettoautonegotiate,makesurethattheotherdeviceissettoautonegotiate.

Solution2:Checkthecablesthatconnecttheporttotheotherdevice.Makesurethattheyareconnectedcorrectly.Makesurethatyouareusingthecorrectcabletype.
