1.(02/08/2014) CVS Doesn't Sell Cigarettes Anymore

a path i have told

no one about, even

though hundreds must havewalked it, i assume

i am always alone.i was talking to you here

against the building, you were onthe phone. you couldnt see

me sitting under a streetlightsurrounded by a yolk of life

in pregnant night, i feel like birthhasnt happened yet, i still have many

people to meet, to learnto write first then climb

a ladder behind the buildingnext to CVS. i can write on the roof

soon, alonebut i am already born.

none of this seems real.my birthday was a week ago.

feels like i feel twenty feet,

my heel crushed by concrete--

fuck it hurts so bad, because i didfall scaling CVS,

but i will climb until i findwhatever is up there--

maybe just pebbles on a roofin the shape of a key.

i am afraid of the dark,even in the mornings in elementary school

i would get chased around

the playground everydaybut bullies never caught me.i was proud. I was used

to watching you in the middleof the soccer field. you ran,ran even faster than me.i was jealous. i grew up

searching for and chasing after jars

to put other people into. tiny fire-flies burning into my eyesso now i see all
