SUCCESS STORY

My name is Jabulani Nhlakanipho Mahlobo, the Chairperson of SRC at Temba Campus. I am currently a student of Tshwane North TVET College. I originate from KZN, Pongola in a village called Msuzwaneni.

My story on how I became a student of TNC:“I finished my matric in 2010. I looked for a school to further my studies in 2011 but unfortunately I couldn’t find one until February 2011. My father advised me to go for my license lessons which I did. I received my license on 15 April 2011. It took me only two and half months to get it.I got a temporary job in July 2011 where I worked as a long distance driver to deliver goods from city to city in KZN until the 23th of December 2011. In January the following year, I decided to look for a school to further my studies.

I also decided to go to other provinces besides KZN. I wanted to study at TUT. I did not even know where TUT was located but only that it was in Pretoria. When I finally found the place it was unfortunately full. They couldn’t accept me, that meant I had to go back home. I could not go back home as I was hungry for education. I had to search again for other institutions.

Luckily enough, Tshwane North College, Soshanguve South Campus is nearby TUT so I went there for information. In the prospectus that they gave me I felt I can do Safety in Society for only a year as the course for three years, because I wanted to study at TUT the following year. I was referred to Temba campus to register for the course as it is offered there. As it was my first time in Pretoria, I didn’t know where Temba Campus was located but fortunately in that very same prospectus there were directions to all Tshwane North College Campuses.I registered at Tshwane North College Temba Campus. I started to develop love for the course and the campus because of good support from the lecturers who give us advice and courage towards our careers. This year, 2014, I am doing Safety in Society Level 4. I am coping very well with my studies.

I love Tshwane North TVET College because here I was given the opportunity to reach for my dreams. Thank you TNC. I am proud to be a student at this college. To someone who is looking for education, I can proudly advise them to come to Tshwane North College where there is quality education that bears fruit of joy, knowledge and wisdom.”

“ I love Tshwane North TVET College because here I was

given the opportuinty to reach for my dreams!”

DHET TVET COLLEGE ATTENDANCE POLICY

100% attendance is required.

Students must, as far as possible, should they know that they will be late or be absent, go to their lecturers BEFORE the time to get permission (Authorised Absence).

In cases of illness, students have to ensure that signed copies of medical/ registered traditional healer’s certificates be taken to ALL lecturers whose classes were missed.

Students have to complete a STUDENT ABSENCE FORM for every period they missed. This must be signed by the student and lecturer and filed together with the register by the lecturer.

Students will have to sign a Code of Conduct stipulating that a minimum attendance of 80% at all times is required.

Students need to understand that should they be absent more than 1 period per week or late more than twice per week in a specific class, the 3 stages of action will be applied.

Students need to be made aware of the fact that should they not attend 80% of classes, they will NOT BE ALLOWED to sit for examination for that subject and will further LOOSE ALL DHET TVET BURSARY BENEFITS, etc.
