Technology

The BFA degree is a curriculum specific degree that prepares the

students for a professional career in theatre. According to the

accreditation standards classes are usually small in size, to enable

students to develop the range of knowledge, skills, and competencies

expected of those holding a professional baccalaureate degree.

NAST standards state “classes in creative work should not exceed 16

students.”

performed and generated revenue and scholarships for the past 20

years

Civic Engagement is a signature component of all programming

within the Theatre. The program has mounted productions that

address domestic and gang violence, homelessness, health and

economic disparities, racism, and homophobia just to name a few.

All of these events are accompanied by panel discussions,

community talk-backs, resource and research materials.

Audience Members

The venue of a “Theatre” allows for diverse individuals to come

together to have an experience that may or may not reflect them,

their beliefs, or social status. But it allows those individuals the

opportunity to explore their differences in an environment of

entertainment, education, and enlightenment. It opens up an

opportunity to understand and embrace the rich dimensions of

diversity contained within each individual.

“We need people who think with the creative side of their brains -

people who have played in a band, who have painted, who have

acted in a play…it enhances symbiotic thinking capabilities, not

always thinking in the same paradigm, learning how to kick-start

a new idea, or how to get a job done better, less expensively.”

–Annette Byrd, GlaxoSmithKline
