Greetings Friends and Colleagues,

on behalf of the North Carolina Dental Society, i want to invite you to attend the 159th Annual Session. this is NoRth CARoliNA’s Dental Meeting! our theme this year is Courage to lead. We all lead in our practices, communities and families. this year we hope you will plan to attend North Carolina’s Dental Meeting at the beautiful Kingston Plantation Resort in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

this year’s meeting will provide you with many opportunities for continuing education, fellowship with old and new friends, governance meetings and fun social events. in addition, take time to enjoy the many sites and activities Myrtle Beach has to offer!

Dr. Scott Vines our Annual Session Chair and the Annual Session team have planned a great meeting. there is a great line up of speakers in our Continuing Education classes, so i hope your will attend many of the classes and earn your CE credits for the year.

this year’s Golf tournament is being held at the Davis love course at Barefoot landing. Ranked the 53rd best golf course in the US, if you’re a golfer sign up to play this course. Not a golfer? We have a fun run, tennis tournament and a bike ride. Sports not your thing? Enjoy time at the pool or on the beach.

Make plans to join me at the President’s Welcome Reception thursday Night. this is a great way to kick off the meeting. Renew old friendships and support our Exhibitors. Who knows there may even be a few surprises! New this year, on Friday night we will have a Derby/Casino night. this is a change from our traditional Beach Party but it is sure to be a blast. there will be plenty of beverages and snacks. Wear your best Derby hat and participate in a race or play some black jack.

So take a look at this booklet or go online to ncdental.org and find out what the 159th Annual Session has to offer. i think you will be impressed with all of the opportunities available to you. be sure to download our annual session app. Yes, that is right, WE hAVE AN APP! it is available in the Apple Store or Google Play by searching NC Dental Society. this app will allow you to take notes, manage your CE classes, access the CE course handouts and much, much more!

Finally, i want to say what an honor it is for me to serve as President of the North Carolina Dental Society. this organization is committed to its members and the citizens of North Carolina. i look forward to greeting each of you at North Carolina’s Dental Meeting!

See you at the beach,

Scott W. CashionPresident, North Carolina Dental Society

Dear Friends and Colleagues of the North Carolina Dental Society,

Greetings from the old North State Dental Society (oNSDS). We continue to be excited about the relationship between our organizations, and the achievements that our collaborations have brought to bear. As you know, oNSDS is an organization of African-American dentists practicing here in North Carolina. We have deep roots within African-American and underserved communities in our state, and are proud of our rich history of service to these populations. Contributing to the advancement of dental education, aiding in the enactment and enforcement of laws promoting excellent dental care, and espousing good inter-professional relations, continue to be our methods of achieving our overarching goal: to improve the health and well-being of the people of North Carolina.

together, our two organizations continue to grow in our abilities to serve patients in need. At this well-regarded and highly-anticipated 159th Annual Session of the North Carolina Dental Society (NCDS), we are pleased to have co-sponsored speaker, Dr. Sylvia Frazier-Bowers. this program is scheduled on Friday, May 15, and we hope you will join us to hear this exceptional speaker. Also on Friday, we will hold a luncheon and will receive an update on the oNSDS and items of interest. Please register for this special event on the NCDS Registration Form.

Also, please mark your calendars for June 26-28 when the oNSDS will hold its Annual Convention, Come Grow With Us!, at the Proximity hotel in Greensboro. Registration will be available on the oNSDS website, www.onsdsonline.com.

We look forward to seeing you in Myrtle Beach and in Greensboro!
