The All Church Picnic is sponsored by the Fishermen. As we gather at three o’clock, there will be games for the younger set and those young at heart. This is a potluck picnic. The Fishermen will provide watermelon, ice cream, and drinks (lemonade and iced tea). A gas grill will be available, so bring your burgers and dogs to grill and a dish to share. We expect to wrap up by six o’clock so things can get cleaned up and put away before it gets too dark. In tribute to Peggy Lingo, donations were received to fund SVUMC’s annual English as a Second Language (ESL) and U.S. Citizenship classes. We need volunteers to help teach. Classes are scheduled to begin this fall (actual dates pending, but days are likely Wednesdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to noon). Our ESL program needs interested persons to work with students at beginning, intermediate, and advanced levels. We often have several beginning levels, depending upon student proficiency in English.

Remembering the scripture: “I was a stranger and you welcomed me” (Matthew 25:35).

Please prayerfully consider volunteering for this important outreach. Simply speaking English qualifies you for this rewarding mission! Please contact Dixie Lee Larson at 520-378-7079 or [email protected]

- Change In Church Email -Beginning immediately, please use the following email address for all correspondence with Sierra

Knit WitsWe are a knit/crochet group that meets every Thursday from 9 to 11 in classroom 1-2. We use plastic bags to make sleeping mats for the homeless, and we need your help. We also teach knitting and crocheting.

If you know of someone in need of a little extra TLC, please consider giving them a prayer shawl. The Knit Wits (and friends) have created some beautiful shawls in a variety of colors and patterns. Please look at their display in the lobby and consider giving a shawl to a friend in need.

We at SAWs-Southwest know we may not meet the need of every request - but it matters to those we do. If it matters to you, join us and let’s make a difference one ramp at a time.

Your quarter can help build an access ramp that will give a handicapped person the joy of venturing beyond the captive walls of their own home, thereby enhancing their life and providing them with hope for a better future. That’s just one positive result your quarter helps to provide. The other important result is the heartfelt satisfaction the many volunteers receive knowing their efforts improve the life of others.

Your Two Bits Count!

Huachuca Mountain Elementary School partners with SVUMC in a volunteer tutoring program which is now in its 24th year.
