Kaylin Lambert and Justin Hale will be married on Saturday, Oct. 18, 2014 at the Billy Graham Chapel located at Herring Ridge, Boomer.

The bride is the daughter of Michael and Beverly Lambert of Purlear. Maternal grandparents are Nona Reavis Call and the late Harrold Talmadge Call of North Wilkesboro. Paternal grandparents are Pearl Irene Lambert of Purlear and the late James Harlan Lambert of West Virginia.

The groom is the son of Linda Hale of Millers Creek and Charles and Joanne Hale of North Wilkes-boro. Maternal grandparents are the late J.M Nichols Jr. and Betty Lackey Nichols of North Wilkes-boro. Paternal grandparents are the late Raymond Leroy and Doro-thy Flow Hale of Columbus, Ohio.

The bride-elect is a 2006 gradu-ate of West Wilkes High School, a 2006 graduate of the Artistic Acad-emy as a licensed beautician and a 2010 graduate of the Living Arts In-stitute as a medical assistant. She

is employed with Wilkes Women’s Care.

The prospective groom is a 2006 graduate of West Wilkes High School and a 2009 graduate of Guilford Tech Community Col-lege Fire Academy. He is employed and owner of Hale’s Lawn Care. He is a volunteer firefighter and first responder at Moravian Falls Fire Department and Wilkes Rescue Squad.

The two have known each other since their freshman year in high school. Justin sat behind Kaylin in earth science.

“I tried each and every day to get Kaylin to go out with me. In high school I worked at the Food Lion in Millers Creek with Kaylin’s older sister, Kristie. I would always beg her sister to talk some sense into Kaylin and get her to date me,” said Justin, but all to no avail.

Over the years the two remained in contact and were close friends. Around February 2013, the two be-gan spending more time together. Over the next few months they be-

came inseparable, said Kaylin. As their relationship became

more serious, they began talking about marriage. They started look-ing at rings together and Kaylin showed Justin a picture of what she liked.

Justin took the picture to Mi-chael’s Jewelry and it was custom made for Kaylin. “The next step was to ask her dad permission to marry his daughter, remembered Justin.

He told Kaylin’s dad, that he had a ring especially built for his daughter and asked him if he could marry Kaylin. He replied, “why are you asking me for, you had bet-ter be asking her!” “We both just laughed,” said Justin.

“Now it was time for me to de-cide how I was going to propose to Kaylin. She had been telling me that she wanted us to carve pump-kins together, so it dawned on me that I could carve ‘Will You Marry Me?’ into pumpkins,” said Justin.

Kaylin’s mom got him four big pumpkins. The night before he

proposed, Kaylin’s mom and sister carved “Will” “You” “Marry” “Me” on the four big pumpkins.

Justin placed the carved pump-kins on hay bales on land below Kaylin’s parents. He decided four wheeling would be a good way to let Kaylin see the pumpkins, since that was what they did on their first date.

On Oct. 18, 2013, Justin told Kaylin that her nephews had carved pumpkins and they needed to go see them. They got on the four-wheeler and drove down to the field. Justin got off the four

of school, Tyler finally asked me on a date and we’ve been together ever since,” said Ashton.

The couple has two overall favor-ites. “We lived in an old dormitory in seminary, and on Valentine’s Day Tyler spent half of the day cooking in the terrible miniature kitchen making me a surprise gourmet dinner, set up with candles and my favorite music,” said Ashton.

Another memorable date was when Ashton surprised Tyler for his birth-day.

“We went to a Boston Red Sox/New York Yankees game at Yankee Stadium. Tyler is a die hard Red Sox fan (and they won that day), so he was thrilled,” remembered Ashton.

The couple are big trivia fans, es-pecially Jeopardy and Trivial Pursuit. They also love playing cards, going to the movies, and especially finding new and exciting places to eat.

“In general we really like the same things, and just enjoy being together, on exciting outings and even in our ev-eryday routine,” said the couple.

wheeler and took Kaylin’s hand.“I saw the pumpkins all lit up and in my

head I read what the pumpkins said, ‘Will’ ‘You’ ‘Marry’ ‘Me’ but it didn’t register to me. Justin asked, “how do you like my pump-kins?,” then he went down on one knee and asked me, “Kaylin, will you marry me?” I started crying and went down to the ground where Justin was still on one knee with the ring in his hand. After the proposal, both of our families all went to Applebee’s and celebrated our engagement,” remembered Kaylin.

Kate and Tyler have known each other since high school when they were in the same group of friends.

“Once we went to college, we both worked at Outback Steakhouse and formed a close friendship.

“We would hang out most weekends with a tight knit group of friends. Gradu-ally our friendship turned into something more and we started officially dating in the winter of 2011,” said Kate.

Their friendship turned into romance during their sophomore year in college.

“My roommate, Kayla Bower, and I were stuck indoors during a snow storm. Tyler and a friend took pity on us and brought us “homemade” cupcakes from a local grocery store decorated with the Disney movie ‘Wall-e’ rings. Even though they were not the best cupcakes I have ever eaten, I enjoyed seeing the sweet side of my future husband,” said Kate.

“When Tyler and I were just friends he started making homemade holiday cards for me. He even branded the back of the cards with ‘Cards by Tyler.’ At the begin-ning the cards were always humorous, but once we started dating the cards pro-

gressively got sweeter and sweeter.“By far, the best homemade card is the

one he created asking me to marry him. The card was placed and wrapped in a large Belk’s box so when I opened the box to find the card I was confused until I read the inside of the card and I looked up and Tyler was on one knee with a ring box perched open. I will cherish and pre-serve these homemade cards forever.”

The couple will live in Greensboro, following their honeymoon trip to Kona, Hawaii.

Melanie and Nicholas have been togeth-er 9 years, as of March 12, 2014. They had classes together beginning in the seventh grade at Woodward Middle School.

Nicholas said he remembered the first time he saw Melanie. “She was wearing a white Tommy Hilfiger coat and her hair was in a pony tail. She was very shy, but we became friends, said Nicholas.

In high school they gradually became more than friends.

“In the 10th grade we started communi-cating, with love letters floating around us. Especially in Mrs. Hall’s English class,” said Melanie.

“We would hang out on the weekends. I guess you could call us “puppy love” at that time, but we were still friends, “ said Melanie.

A year or so later Nicholas asked Mela-nie to be his girlfriend over a telephone call on March 12, 2005.

Their daughter was born Aug. 10, 2006 and their son was born Dec. 31, 2008.

“We never really thought about mar-riage, but of course we talked about it,” said Melanie.

However on Dec. 12, 2012 Nicholas fell to one knee and asked Melanie to be his wife.

“I was astonished, speechless, and felt that my wishes and dreams had come to reality! Of course I said ‘yes’,” remem-bered Melanie.

The couple’s favorite time of the year

is fall. They enjoy working together, es-pecially preparing the fields for hunting. They also enjoy target practicing as well as riding four wheelers and making trails.

Melanie and Nicholas are also avid fans of the Oakland Raider NFL football team.

“Every Sunday we relax as we watch the Sunday NFL games and have dinner. Our weekends consist of children’s rec-reation games. But we do manage a date night every once in a while,” said Melanie.

“Our favorite thing to do on a date is to eat at Texas Roadhouse or Makoto’s and enjoy a nice action packed movie and then go shopping together,” said Melanie.

“We are a country couple that enjoys all types of music and likes to keep things small and simple.”

After the wedding and honeymoon to Kauai, Ha-waii, the couple will reside in Northern Virginia.

Hannah and Michael met the very first day they moved to Lenoir-Rhyne. They lived right beside each other freshman year and became great friends. They also lived in the same dorm their sophomore year at Lenoir-Rhyne. The two attended many social functions together dur-ing their college career. It wasn’t until their junior year of college when the two officially started dat-ing after a long weekend at the beach with some close friends. The two have been together since junior year and since graduating in May 2012 the two have had a long distance relation-ship.

The engagement It was just a normal

day in May or so Hannah thought. She had planned on going to Oakwoods

Country Club pool with her mom and best friend. Michael was coming to visit later that day but little did Hannah know he was already in town. Michael had every detail perfectly planned out and everyone knew except Hannah. They were enjoying the pool when Hannah won a door prize and that’s when it all happened. They brought a chair for her to sit down and one by one came in Hannah’s closest friends carrying signs and each of them had a red rose. The signs were all things that Hannah and Michael had in common and the last one carried by Natalie, Hannah’s best friend, said “Did you fall in love?” and that’s when Michael finally came down the stairs with a sign reading “I DID” and a white rose and of course the ring! It was perfect and all caught on video!

During the couple’s free time they enjoy going to dinner, the movies, Top Golf and watching sports. The couple also shares the same birthday, May 22.

The bridal party will consist of Kristen Glaze, of Elkin as the maid of honor. She has been Stephanie’s best friend for as long as they both can remember. Nick’s younger brother Kenneth Wehrmann will be the best man. Nick has known Kenneth since the day he was born. Curtis Privette, friend of Nick, will officiate and Stepha-

nie’s 10 year old twin cousins Evan and Sydney Haskins, of Massachu-setts, will be the ring bear-er and flower girl.

The couple plans for the wedding to be in the after-noon and the reception to follow, also in Elkin. Bur-lap and white will be used in decorations with pink as an accent color. Their honeymoon plans are un-decided, but they hope to go somewhere tropical and warm.

A little over two years

ago, the couple met through a roommate and mutual friend. Nick invit-ed Stephanie to join them for dinner at his house where they began to get to know each other. After a few more dinners togeth-er, he asked Stephanie to go on a date to the movies (Sherlock Holmes 2, to be exact). They went to Win-ston-Salem, had pizza and a great time that ended in a first kiss. The two con-tinued to date and soon became inseparable.

The couple enjoys Mer-leFest, working on proj-ects together, eating ice cream and traveling. Their travels have taken them to Asheville; New Market, Va.; Washington D.C.; Bos-ton, Mass.; Myrtle Beach, S.C.; the Outer Banks and most recently Daytona Beach, Fla.

While in Florida “to see a football game” on Dec. 1, 2013, Nick took Stephanie out to the beach at sunrise to ask her to marry him and she said yes.
