Regulations for admission to Post Graduate Ayurved Courses

MD ( Ayurved) COURSES (3-YEAR)
1. Jurisdiction of the University
1.1. Admission to the seats in the affiliated institution of The West Bengal University of Health
Sciences in different Post Graduate Ayurved Courses shall be made on the basis of the inter
se merit positions of different categories/ castes of candidates appearing in the West Bengal
Post Graduate Ayurved Admission Test Examination (WBPGAAT-2015) to be conducted
by the est Bengal University of Health Sciences (WBUHS).
2. Eligibility criteria
a. Citizens of India who have obtained the Bachelor of Ayurveda of Medicine and Surgery
(B.A.M.S) Degree from any university of the state and registered in West Bengal or Paschim
Banga Ayurveda Parishad or Central Council of Indian Medicine shall be eligible to apply
for admission to the MD (Ayurved) Courses, provided they have completed their rotating
internship latest by 30.6.2015 for one year after passing the B.A.M.S examination.
b. Application for admission to MD (Ayurved) Courses will not be accepted unless the
candidates have got themselves registered with the Paschim Banga Ayurveda Parishad or
Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM)
c. Candidates who are already pursuing any other course are not eligible for admission.
However , candidates completing the course/resigning from the course before the date of
admission, will be eligible to get admission. (The admission to the Institute of Post Graduate
Ayurveda Education research, Shyamadas Vidyapith, Kolkata, West Bengal is conditional
subject to fulfillment of the criteria by the college within 31 December, 2015 as
communicated through letter no.F.No. RI7011/208/2015- EP(IM-1) dated 11.09.2015
issued by the Ministry of AYUSH.
3. Written test
a. A written test will be conducted by the WBUHS to prepare category/ caste wise merit
positions of the candidates seeking admission to the MD (Ayurved) Courses.
b. Applicants for admission will be provisionally allowed to appear in the written test provided
they have submitted their applications in the prescribed form on and have fulfilled the
eligibility criteria outlined above.

c. The question paper for the written test shall be set in English and shall contain 100 single best
response type Multiple Choice Questions.
d. The following is the list showing the tentative number of questions from different subjects
which will be set in the written test: Number of question is specified in the bracket.
1. Non-Clinical Subjects:
i) Ayurveda Itihas(5), ii) Fundamental Principles of Ayurveda including
Padarthavidya (5), iii) Rasasastra and Bhaisjyalalpana (5), iv) Vidhibaidya and
Agadhatantra(5),v) Sharir rachana (5), vi) Sharirkriya (5), vii) Drabyaguna(5) viii)
Swasthavritta(5), viii) Rogavijnan and Vikritivijnan (5). Total 45 nos of questions
will be set from non-clinical subjects.
2. Clinical Subjects:
i) Kayachikitsa (6), ii) Shalyatantra (9), iii) Shalakyatantra (8), iv) Bhutavidya (8),
v) Koumaravritya (8),vi) Prasutitantra (5). vii) Striroga (5) vii) Panchakarma (6)
Total 55 nos of questions will be set from clinical subjects.
e. The duration of the written test will be 80 minutes.
f. A candidate will be awarded one mark for each correct answer. No marks will be given for
incorrect answer or multiple answers though multiple answers will be regarded as incorrect
answers.
g. Candidates who will secure a minimum of 40 marks in the written test for the seats reserved
for SC/ ST candidates and a minimum of 50 marks for the seats of all other categories will be
qualified and empanelled for selection. However SC/ST candidates of other state will have to
compete with unreserved categories.
h. If the number of qualified candidates are less than the number of seats, merit list will be
considered for admission irrespective of marks obtained. In that case, lower minimum marks
for all categories will be 30 marks.
4. Merit position of candidates
a. The rank of the candidates qualifying in the written test will be determined on the basis of the
marks obtained by them in the WBPGAAT-2015. The roll numbers of the candidates
qualifying in the written test will be arranged in the merit position according to rank and in
order of decreasing marks as stated in previous clause.
b. In the event of more than one candidate securing the same marks in the written test, the rank
shall be determined according to the following principles:
1. The relative position of such candidates in the merit position will be determined on the

basis of incorrect answers, i.e., the candidate scoring lesser numbers out of incorrect
answers will be placed higher in the merit position.
2. If the ranks of the candidates cannot be determined by application of the above two
principles, the candidate older by age will be in the higher rank than the candidate
younger by age.
3. SC/ST/Physically handicapped candidates will get combined rank as well as rank within
the particular reserved category.
4. There will be a combined merit position.
5. No rank will be given if candidates do not get marks as stated in clause 3, sub clause ‘g’.
5. Counseling for selection of candidates for admissions
a. Admission to different Post Graduate Ayurved Courses will be made through personal
appearance (counseling) strictly according to the time schedule to be published by the
WBUHS. For personal appearance the candidates will be called in order of merit.
b. The provisional merit position as well as the date and time of counseling will be available at
the notice-board of the WBUHS and its website. No separate information will be sent to
individual candidate in this regard.
c. Candidates selected for admission through counseling shall have to get themselves admitted
within the specified date to be mentioned in the offer letter to be issued after counseling.
d. A candidate will have to appear in person before the selection committee on the date of
counseling; otherwise he / she will be marked absent and his/ her candidature will stand
cancelled.
e. However, in case a candidate is unable to appear in person on the day of counseling, he/she
may send his/her authorized representative with an Undertaking and Authority Letter for
allotment (proforma for Undertaking can be provided as annexure. Authority Letter will
be available in the University website from the day of publication of results), along with
required original documents and fees. The allotment made to the authorized representative
shall be binding on the candidate.
f. The candidate appearing for counseling will have to bring the following original documents
along with their attested copies: (without which they shall not be allowed to participate in the
counseling)
(i) WBPGAAT-2015 Admit Card
(ii) BACHELOR OF AYURVEDA OF MEDICINE AND SURGERY (B.A.M.S)

(iii) Internship completion certificate

g. The number of seats available for allotment, with their subject-wise breakup, is described in
Appendix-1. The allotment will be based according to his/her rank in the merit position and
choice of the candidates.
i. The allotment made will be firm and final. Change of subject is not permitted. Therefore,
request for the same will not be entertained by the WBUHS after the allotment.
6. Reservation of Seats
6.1 22%, 6% & 3% seats shall be kept reserved for the SC, ST & Physically Challenged
candidates respectively. ‘Physically Challenged’ means ‘Persons with disabilities as defined
by MCI, i.e., 40%-60% loco motor disability in lower limb(s)’ only and certified by Physical
Medicine department of IPGMER, Kolkata-700020. The government order and/ or the court
directives which will be in force on the respective day of counseling will be followed for this
purpose.
6.2 Reservation policy of SC and ST seats will not be applicable for the students of other states.
Seats reserved for SC candidates when remaining vacant even after following the instructions
laid down in the Govt. orders and notifications, shall be filled in by the ST candidates and
vice-versa.
6.3 Seats reserved for PC candidates when remaining vacant even after following the instructions
laid down in the Govt. orders and notifications, shall be filled in from the general merit
position.
6.4 As no seats are added after April, 2013, earmarked of seats and place in the file with letter for
OBC-A, OBC-B AND OBC will not be done.
6.5 If “Reserved Category Candidates (SC and ST )” qualifies with the same standard followed
for General Category candidates, will be treated as General Category Candidate, provided
he/she opts for the same. For such, seat from General category will be adjusted. The seat so
becoming available, will be counseled for next candidate in the roster while the reserved seats
for SC and ST candidates will remain same. On the contrary, if she/he opts for reserved
seat, it will be adjusted in the reserved category and counted as part of the reserved pool for
the purpose of computing the aggregate reservation.

7. Other information
7.1. Candidates need not submit any supporting document along with their application form.
7.2. The allotment of examination centre will be done by the WBUHS and will be final and
binding.
7.3. There is no provision for rechecking/ re-evaluation of the answer sheets and no query in this
regard will be entertained. The MCQ-s and their respective responses cannot be disclosed to
anybody under any circumstances.
7.4. The in-service candidates may submit applications directly, but “No Objection Certificate/
Sponsoring Certificate” by competent authority must be submitted at the time of counseling.
7.5 Mere appearing at examination and getting place in the merit list will not qualify a candidate
for admission if he/she is not able to satisfy condition as laid down in the booklet.

GENERAL RULES AND PROCEDURAL DIRECTIVES
1. Applicants should go through and strictly follow the instructions given in the
Information Booklet as published in www.wbuhs.ac.in / www.wbuhsexams.in
September, 2015, while applying for different Post Graduate courses. Application must be
complete in all respect.
2. The Print-copy of the application along with a crossed Demand Draft of Rs. 3000/-drawn in
favour of ‘The West Bengal University of Health Sciences’ payable at Kolkata are
to be submitted either by hand or by Speed/ Registered post to the office of the
[‘Controller of Examinations’, West Bengal University of Health Sciences, DD-36,
Sector- I, Salt Lake, Kolkata-700064]. The application must reach the office of the WBUHS
within 05.10.2015 by hand and 06.10.2015 by speed post/registered post. Candidates are
requested to write their name, acknowledgement no and telephone/mobile no. on the back of
the bank draft.
3. No document is to be submitted with application form.
4. Submission of incorrect or false statements / documents or suppression of material
information in the application form will be considered as sufficient ground for cancellation of
the candidature or the admission of the candidates to a Post Graduate course whenever
detected, i.e. during the process of admission or even at any stage thereafter.
5. The selection / admission of a candidate shall stand cancelled if he / she is found guilty of
copying from any material whatsoever or of taking the help of any electronic media / devices
during the examination, or of assisting others or of being assisted by others in any manner
whatsoever in writing out the answers during the examination. In this context, decision of the
Centre-in-charge and/or University Observer will be final and binding.
6. Admit Card will have to be downloaded from the the University website through putting
acknowledgement number/ mobile number of the candidate. It will be put in the website prior
to two days of the examination.
7. During appearing at this test, candidate is to ensure that ears are visible. Hair should not be
pleated to cover the ears.

8. Multiple Choices Answering Method through Optical Mark Recognition (OMR)
I) The test will be objective in nature and for each question four suggested answers will
be given of which one answer will be best response .
II) The Answer Sheet will be machine-scored and therefore requires specific
procedure to be followed as given below:
The answers will be marked only by blue/ black ball-pen. The pencils are
NOT TO BE USED.
The method of marking answers is indicated below:
Each question will be followed by answers marked as (a), (b), (c) or
(d). Select the most appropriate answer. Then, using blue/ black ball
pen blacken the circle bearing the correct answer index against the
serial number of the question on the answer sheet completely.
Begin answering in the OMR sheet from serial no.1 to complete the
answers or serial no 100. Please note that the mark should be dark
enough and the circle should be filled in as completely as possible.
You need not make special efforts to darken any circle artistically.
9. The qualified candidates whose names will be published in the Provisional Merit
List will have to submit all the attested copies of supporting documents along with
originals for verification of their eligibility to the course during counseling.
10. The Merit position and the date, time and venue of counseling will be notified in the
notice-board of the WBUHS and will also be available in the website
< www.wbuhs.ac.in/ www.wbuhsexams.in >. No communication in this regard will be made
to the candidates personally.
11. Candidates selected for admission shall have to get themselves admitted within the
specified date to be mentioned in the offer letter to be issued after counseling.
12. Selected candidates will have to deposit Rs. 3000/- as counselling fee by means of
a crossed Demand Draft in favour of ‘The West Bengal University of Health
Sciences’ payable at Kolkata on the day of the counseling. The counseling fee will be
refunded if eligible qualified candidate does not get call for exercising option.
The candidate, after admission, should report to the Director, Institute of
Postgraduate Ayurvedic Education & Research at Shyamadas Vaidya
Sastrapith, 294/3/1 A.P.C. Road, Kolkata-700009 within 30.10.2015.
13. If a candidate does not report to the allotted institution by the due date his / her

admission to the course will be cancelled.
14. No travel allowance is admissible for appearing in the written examination or for
attending counseling.
15. No personal communication will be made to the candidates, unless it is considered
absolutely necessary by the University authority.

APPENDIX -III
Guidelines for Submission of Application
*1. A candidate seeking admission through WBPGAAT is required to submit her application online by logging in www.wbuhs.ac.in /www.wbuhsexams.in .
Application submitted by all other means will be summarily rejected.
*2. The candidate will, first of all, visit the university website www.wbuhs.ac.in / www.wbuhsexams.in through internet. S/he is required to go through the relevant ‘Information Booklet’ carefully and acquaint herself with all requirements regarding filling in the application form.
*3. At the Left Hand Side of the homepage under the heading of “Application”, click on WBPGAAT 2015 for which s/he wants to submit the form online.
*4. Fill in the “Online Application Form” carefully by selecting appropriate options or by typing in
appropriate places. Please do not skip any point. Attach your scanned recent passport size photograph and signature in appropriate places. Then click “submit” at the bottom of the page to see what you have entered.
*5. Please check the details of your entry in the next page. If you want to change anything, go back to first page and fill again. If necessity arises for change in the First Page , click “ Reset” at the bottom and continue , then click “Submit” at the bottom to go to the next page. After clicking “Submit” two more pages will appear with an “Acknowledgement number ” and the candidate will have to print both the pages as those will have to be submitted to the WBUHS. Please keep photocopies of those pages for your record. Submit the form afresh if you do not get any “Acknowledgement Number.” Form without Acknowledgement Number and missing data will not be entertained. Once submitted, no request for change of any entry will be entertained by the University. Print-out of these two pages will have to be submitted to the office of the “Controller of Examinations, West
Bengal University of Health Sciences (WBUHS), DD-36, Sector-I, Salt Lake, Kolkata-700064” after: i) Pasting one current photograph at the appropriate place of the candidate. ii) Putting the candidate’s signature at appropriate places. iii) The declaration must be signed (which should be full name) in the same page of the
declaration. iv) Attaching the bank-draft / pay order for Rs. 3000/- in favour of “The West Bengal
University of Health Sciences” payable at Kolkata , vi) Certificate of declaration in respected of information in the prescribed form be signed by the
candidate himself/herself vii) Attaching photocopy of EPIC/PAN Card
**1. The instructions given in the print-outs are to be followed scrupulously. The printed hardcopies of last two pages are to be submitted to the WBUHS either personally or by registered post/ speed post, so as to reach the WBUHS on or before the prescribed last date. **2. Please keep photocopy of the pages to be submitted. **3. All forms submitted after the stipulated last date/ all incomplete or invalid forms will be rejected without any further reference to the candidate and the fees submitted, if any, will be forfeited as processing charges. INSTRUCTIONS FOR ANSWERING THROUGH Optical Measuring Report (OMR) :
WEST BENGAL POST GRADUATE AYURVEDA ADMISSION TEST (WBPGAAT) -2015 Before writing anything on OMR Sheet, please read very carefully the instruction from beginning to end. The OMR answer sheet has two parts :
(a) Identification information on the left hand side. (b) Answer sheet on the right hand side. (A) Identification information (on the left hand side):
Follow the steps carefully : Step 1 : Check the 6 digit Question Booklet Number Step 2 : Enter the 6 digit number in the boxes against the ‘Question Booklet No’ in the OMR sheet; one digit in each box by blackening the corresponding circles below. Step 3 : Enter the 8 digit Roll Number in the boxes provided against ‘Roll Number’ in the OMR Sheet; one digit in each box by blackening the corresponding circles below. Step 4 : Put your full signature in the box provided.
(B) Answer sheet (on the right hand side): Please be careful while filling up OMR Sheet :
Step 1 : Use serial nos. 1 to 100 in the right hand side of the OMR Sheet. Please do not Use Serial No. 101 to 200 in that event your OMR Sheet may not be scanned by the Computer Step 2 : Check the ‘Question Booklet Series’ on your Question Booklet It may be any of the alphabets – A/B/C/D/E. Step 3 : Enter the alphabet in the corresponding box against ‘Question Booklet Series’ in the OMR Sheet (on the right hand side) Step 4 : Blacken the corresponding round containing the same alphabet adjacent to the box. Step 5 : Against each question serial number, there are four rounds containing alphabets a/b/c/d. Answer by blackening the rounds containing the alphabet corresponding to the answer of your choice. Blacken the round completely only by the blue or black ball point pen supplied by the University.
(C) Details on marking on OMR Sheet. (i) the OMR Sheet will be machine scanned.
Do not put any pen/ other mark anywhere except in places as detailed above. Do not tamper with the ‘Bar Code’ on the OMR Sheet. Do not fold the OMR Sheet.
The method of marking answers is indicated below :

(1) On receipt of Question Booklet the candidate should verify the Question Booklet Series and Roll Number as pasted in the question booklet.
(2) After completion of examination the candidate should return the question booklet duly inserted in the envelope and the OMR Sheet separately to the Invigilator/Hall-in-Charge.
(3) Left thumb impression should be given in the Attendance Sheet in the box provided. (4) Please ensure that your Name, Roll Number and Signature are put in the boxes provided in the
cover page of the Question Booklet. (5) Please ensure that the Invigilator/Hall-in-Charge puts his/her signature in your Question Booklet
and your OMR Sheets in the boxes provided.
(E) Other Important Issues : I. Please go through the instructions on the Admit Card II. For every correct answer (best of four) four marks will be awarded. There will be no
deduction for incorrect and non attempted question.
