September Mission of the Month

Please join us with both your talents and treasure as we come together as a community from October 4th - October 7th at Delaware Valley University for the 7th Central Bucks MobilePack.

Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) is a Minnesota based organization with a simple goal; eliminating the death of children due to starvation or malnutrition. Great strides have been made in the last few years in improving food access, yet the deaths of 6,200 children per day (one every 14 seconds) remains unacceptable. According to UNICEF and WHO, none are in the US. You can make a difference in the lives of these children by supporting the MobilePack with your prayers, financial support, and participation.

The packed meals provide the right micronutrients to children on the brink of losing their lives. The results are dramatic because kids don’t just get a single meal; they are fed for a whole year.

Once children are fed they then have a chance to actually listen and focus on the Gospel message instead of the sustained growls and rumbles of a hungry body. FMSC has an admirable record of delivering the meals to their intended destinations in 70 countries also over the world. They deliver over 99.8% of over 350,000,000 meals to

those in need. They have retained 4/4 star rating from Charity Navigator for the 14th consecutive year, one of only 1% of charities able to maintain a rating for so many years. With each dollar of support received, FMSC spends $.92 directly on meals.

The idea of packing meals is not new at DUMC. This process is similar to the Stop Hunger Now packing. Working in 2 hours shifts over the weekend, you can be an active participant in the process. There is something for everyone from 6-96 years of age to do. We want to encourage groups of all kinds; families, sports teams, small groups to participate and truly make a difference in a life. Come and be God’s hands and feet if only for a weekend and pack 1,104,000+ meals. As we have done in the past, there is a plan to pack as a church on Sunday. More details will follow as we get closer to the event. If you can’t join us on Sunday there is a way to join in the fun and volunteer through an online sign up process (https://www.fmsc.org/mobilepack/events) which will open approximately six weeks before the event.

WE WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THE LIVES OF PEOPLE WE MAY NEVER MEET!!

Thank you for your prayers, your time and your financial support this month.

July 30, 2019 Financial Report

We are grateful to all of you for your on-going support which enables DUMC to serve our congregation and community. Below is a summary of our financial position through July:

Meeting our operating expenses is essential to DUMC’s mission and ministry. Please make every effort to maintain your giving on a regular schedule throughout the summer months. Men’s Fellowship Breakfast

Join us Saturday, October 12 from 7:00 am - 9:00 am to discuss Fatal Distraction: Managing Life Without Margin.

“God’s desire and our purpose is a love relationship with Him and His children” (Matthew 22:36-40). We struggle with these commands because of busyness and indifference. Busyness and poorly chosen priorities become distractions. Distractions rob us of margin and force us to manage life in anxiety, fear and pressure. There is a better way to live, filled with hope and freedom.

Men’s Ministries:

Men who are told to be “self-reliant” need other men. LIFE IS NOT A DIY EXERCISE! We believe a man living life and operating “solo” in this world is vulnerable and will be marginalized in

the Kingdom. Come join us on either Wednesday nights at 7:00 at Ken Kugel’s home or Friday mornings at 6:15 at Kevin McPoyle’s home and go deeper in your faith and in your relationships with other men looking for the same thing you are. We’ll talk about success, significance, work, sports, food and Jesus. Come and be encouraged and renewed for your family, for yourself and for the battle ahead.

The Doylestown Band of Brothers (DBoB) is a group of more than 30 Christian men from Doylestown United Methodist Church and other churches in the community. We believe that no man can successfully fight battles or live an abundant life alone.

Weekly Meetings: There are two opportunities to join:

Contact Ken Kugel for Wednesday evenings at [email protected].

Contact Kevin McPoyle [email protected] or Tom Murray [email protected] for Friday mornings.
