ATTENDANCE REPORT: October 26, 2014

The primary concern of a Christian parent is their child’s relationship with God. It is no secret there has been an exodus of students who are leaving the church after they graduate from high school. This has led to justified concern and numerous research projects to discover why students are leaving.

I am currently reading Sticky Faith by Dr. Kara Powell and Dr. Chap Clark. I’m enjoying the material because it does an excellent job of moving from research to practical application. The foundation of their findings is built around the fact that parents are the primary influence on their student’s spirituality. The book states, “The most important social influence in shaping young people’s religious lives is the religious life modeled and taught to them by their parents.” Students who have a vibrant, meaningful faith modeled for them in the home are significantly more likely to take ownership of their own faith and remain faithful to God throughout their life.

In your home, consider how you can model faithfulness for your family. Let them see that your faith drives every decision you make. Let your family see you study scripture, give, serve, love, and pray. Your children will take notice and they will follow your example.
