HOW HIGH CAN MAN GO WITHOUT LEAVING THE EARTH?

The following information is the 'Talk of the Town' within the engineering society in Dubai...

Few years ago (2003), Dubai decided to build the tallest tower in the world. They name it 'BURJ DUBAI'. Estimated Height: 800m and actual final height is kept secret to this moment, anticipated inauguration date spring 2009.

In 2006, Kuwait decided to build the tallest tower in the world in Kuwait City, at that time, it was considered a challenge to two cities 'Dubai and Shanghai China', height of tower 1,000m; they name it the '1 Km Tower' (Design Stage: Detailed Final Design, and construction of sub-structures started last spring)...!!! In 2007, Prince Waleed of KSA decided to meet the challenge of Dubai and Kuwait City by rising the stakes further up and to build the tallest tower in world in Jeddah, height 1,600m; they name it the '1 mile Tower' (Design Stage: Pre-Final Design, construction to start early next year)...!!! In 2008, Dubai decided to bring back and to keep the world height record in Dubai and not elsewhere... the Government of Dubai decided to build the tallest tower ever on the face of Earth... 1.5 mile or 2.4 km (2,400m)... they name it 'The Vertical City'...!!! The attached photos are the Concept Design drawings of The 'Vertical City' which were presented to 'Sheikh Mohamad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum' (Ruler of Dubai and Prime Minister of UAE) for his approval... Green light and Notice to Proceed were given and the Architect has started the next design phase...!!! With this type of projects, the engineering science and the science of construction materials are pushed to another level of research and development (R&D) in a race between the two sides of the Atlantic Ocean (US/Canada, and Europe)...!!!
