Exalted Ruler’s Message

A nother month is behind

us, and I can’t believe it

is already October. With the

fall upon us, we begin many

of the annual festivities all the

members look forward to,

such as Friday Night Din-

ners, Sunday Breakfast, and

the “Sunday Challenges!”

Before we talk about the

future, I must report on the

past. In September we en-

joyed our second annual End

of Summer Bash. I’d like to

thank the entire House Com-

mittee for their support of this

event. Gary Wassell stepped

up again to do the cooking.

Also in September, the an-

nual District Deputy Audit

took place. Our procedures

and current practices were

found to be in accordance

with Grand Lodge Statutes.

Additionally, on September

25th, before the District Dep-

uty, the Lodge officers initi-

ated another 19 new mem-

bers! As our State Vice Presi-

dent Peter Freiler indicated,

sponsors, your job is not

done. Make sure you bring

these new members to events,

and introduce them to others.

Our first annual Golf Tour-

nament was also held in Sep-

tember, and what an event!

I’d like to thank Tom Herzog

and his committee for such a

successful day. The final num-

bers are in, but to round it off,

the Lodge netted some $5100

of income for our charities!

Later on in the upstart will be

a list of our sponsors. I ask

you take the time to frequent

these businesses!

Elk of the Month

Doug Kehl

Doug is a constant supporter

of many of the events occur-

ring at the Lodge. His spe-

cialty is providing butcher

skills, cutting some 140 steaks

for the annual golf tourna-

ment, or putting together all

the salads for the Pig Roast.

Doug, the parking spot is

yours for the month!

“In vain we call. They have passed into the light, which is beyond the shadow of death. The places that know them shall know them no more; but their virtues are written upon the tablets of love and memory.” The Elk’s Ritual service is a privilege of all members. If you would like this Ritual service for your deceased Elk family member, please notify your Funeral Director or contact the Lodge to make arrangements.

Missing Steaks

After golfing on Monday, September 16, 2013, over 108

golfers were served a steak dinner. Sometime after the meal,

over 20 leftover steaks, uncooked were stolen out of the

kitchen. If anyone is caught stealing from the Lodge, the

police will be called and you will be arrested. This is brother-

hood at it’s worst.
