Armed Forces have an inimitable distinction of imbibing leadership skills in its officers in a manner that they prove to be efficient managers not only in war but in peace as well. These officers are meticulously selected on the basis of their knowledge, aptitude and attitude towards the Services and also attributes of devotion to duty and deep sense of commitment. The ‘Never Say Die’ spirit amongst these officers tested under the most trying circumstances in high risk environment scenario of three dimensional battlefields of land, sea and air, stretches them to the limit of human endeavour. Needless to say, the work conditions expose them to great uncertainty and colossal pressures. The military ethos enshrined in them are highlighted in their honesty, integrity and discipline of high order.

Due to the steep pyramidical structure and the need to maintain a youthful profile, every year several hundreds of these officers superannuate, at an early age. They have immense experience in critical reasoning, objective analysis and decision making. They have also displayed exemplary leadership skills by way of leading soldiers of multi-cultural and multi-functional capabilities under arduous conditions, besides managing organizations and assets of national/strategic interests.

To help these officers harness their rich pool of managerial talent and potential, the Directorate General of Resettlement has embarked on a scheme of conducting six month immersion programmes in business education with reputed B - Schools of the nation; MDI, Gurgaon being one of them.

This intense six month programme aims to hone the latent potential of select group of officers by sensitizing them to nuances of Business Management, thus enabling them to make a smooth transition for a fruitful second career in the corporate world. The programme has provided these officers with enormous insight into business and economic environment of the country by following a time tested and systematic approach which includes a good mix of class room instructions and practically oriented project work.

I am sure that these officers with their vast experience coupled with the corporate policies imbibed at MDI would prove to be valuable assets and provide companies with senior and mid-level managers.

It gives me great pleasure to present the seventh batch of 82 participants of the 'Certificate Course in Business Management' being conducted at MDI, Gurgaon for the officers of the Armed Forces. The course has been specially designed for the Armed Forces Officers, considering their experience in organizational skills, their diligence, integrity, loyalty, perseverance and leadership qualities.

The curriculum is being delivered by an inter-disciplinary team of highly experienced faculty members of the Institute.
