the trunk Linda McKenzie Chairperson Republican Party of Walker County As you can tell from this newsletter, Republicans are involved in many activities to promote Republican ideals and candidates. There are many opportunities for individuals to assist the county party in these activities. We will need volunteers to help staff the headquarters and planning events like the Reagan Dinner. If you haven’t visited the headquarters, please stop in and visit with us at 1201 University Avenue. We try to be open Tuesday thru Thursday from 10:00 - 2:00 on a regular basis and at other times as needed. We hope to have enough volunteers to be open additional hours during primary season. Of course, we need members to join the county party with contributions starting as low as $30. Grassroots volunteers and donors are the lifeblood of the Republican Party of Walker County and the Walker County Republican women; membership forms for both organizations can be picked up at the headquarters. Also, we will have expanded hours during the filing period for candidates in November and December and look forward to assisting candidates with that process. Filing forms can be picked up at the Headquarters. If we wish to continue to elect Republicans at the local level, we must continue to work very hard and not take anything for granted. We want to take every local office in 2016. I hope you enjoy this newsletter. It is our hope to do another one in the spring and one in the summer. The support and participation of all involved makes such events a success. We had a great turnout for Tanto and people are still talking about it! I personally would like to say thank you to all of you. We use the funds from these events to support the club and our local Republican candidates in the general election. As we enter the Republican Primary season, it is very exciting to see how many local candidates are running for various offices in Walker County, as well as those running for larger statewide races. We are fortunate to have a great group of ladies and gentlemen in our club actively participating as candidates, and also many members who support those who are running. I would like to just add as a reminder, as stated in our bylaws,”Individual members of this organization, with the exception of the President and Campaign Activities Chairman, may work for any candidate of their choice in contested Republican primaries but not in the name of the organization”. “If the President or Campaign Activities Chairman is a candidate, or whose husband, or another family member, she shall be exempt from this rule, but may not endorse in the name of the organization.” So I hope to see you out there in the next few months before the March 1, 2016 prima- ry supporting your favorite candidates, because after all, that is what we do as Republican women! It starts local to keep Republicans in office and we want the momentum to continue all the way to the White House with a Republican President taking office in 2017!
