New TIBBS Study Area Created in Bioinformatics BldgHey! There’s a new graduate student and postdoc lounge in the Northeast corner of the first floor of the Bioinformatics Build-ing. The space is located right next to the BBSP and STaD offices, and it can be used for informal gatherings, a quiet place to study or do lit searches (wifi signal is strong - bring your own laptop), or simply a place to enjoy your coffee or eat lunch among friends.

There’s also an adjacent conference room that can be reserved by students and postdocs. The room number is 1115 and there is a sign up calendar just outside the door.

The TIBBS lending library with over 100 books on teaching, men-toring, work-life balance, achieving scientific success, and career op-tions for PhDs has been moved to the new TIBBS lounge, too.

TIBBS Trivia ContestIf you’re one of the first ten PhD students to correctly identify the person pictured to the right you’ll get a free candy bar!

Here are a couple of hints:1.) He was born to Jewish parents on the first day of the Casa-blanca conference of WWII wherein the al-lied powers demand-ed the unconditional surrender of Nazi forces. 2.) He is the only person to ever have been chosen posthu-mously to receive a Nobel prize.

Email your guesses to [email protected]. Good luck!
