Robotics: Falconbots practices will be starting up September 3rd after
school in room 842. Please complete the application that can be found on the
SLMS webpage under activities and Falconbots. Applications will be due
by August 30th.
Falcon Mascot: Any 8th grader interested in being our SLMS Falcon
Mascot, please fill out an application by August 30th! You can find the
application on the Cheerleading bulletin board! Return your completed
application to Coach Landes (room 714) on or before August 30th! Go
Falcons!!
EMR Pens:The front office has EMR pens for $18. These optional
Chromebook styluses have technology built into them and the device is
EMR ready.
Order School Photos Online: Order your student’s photos online at
www.pearcephoto.com. Place your order soon to avoid any late fees.
School Trip: Don’t miss out on the 20th ANNIVERSARY TRIP TO NEW
YORK CITY!!!! Trip dates are May 27-May 29, 2020 with a final
registration deadline of November 2019. Reserve your spot ASAP as they
fill quickly for this once in a lifetime event. Famous landmarks, hotel in
Manhattan, two Broadway shows, food, shopping and so much fun are
included in this year's anniversary pricing. For more information contact

Magazine Sales Have Started!
(trip ID# 180258) For those interested we will be holding an informational parent
meeting Wednesday, August 28th, at 6:00pm in the Media Center.
Lost and Found: Please make sure ALL personal belongings including water bottles
and lunch boxes are marked with first and last name.
Skate Night: Lee's Summit Cares is sponsoring the first 3-Middle School Skate night
for this school year. This is a fun way to kick off the school year with your friends
and a great opportunity to meet other Middle School students from BCMS and
PLMS. Grab a few friends and join in on the fun! (see attached flyer)
Student Council Applications are due to Mrs. Lilly or Mr. Campbell on Friday,
August 30th. They are located on the Student Council bulletin board.
Travel Abroad: Do you want to zipline through the rainforest? Go white water
rafting? Visit another school in the Caribbean? Go snorkeling and swim with sea
turtles? Learn about new culture? Come to the enrollment meeting about our Middle
School Tour to the Dominican Republic on Thursday, Sept. 5th, 7:00pm in the Pleasant

Bus Notes: For students who wish to ride the bus home with another student, BOTH
students must bring a parent-signed bus note to Student Administration by 4th hour.
The student who is guest riding will receive a bus pass for that day to give the bus
driver. This pass is needed for the guest student to ride a different bus, and/or get off
at a different stop.
Car Riders: All drop-offs and pick-ups will be in the back of the building. In order to
help with congestion, please pull as far forward as you can to allow for multiple drop-
offs and pick-ups at the same time. Please see attached map.
Spirit Wear: Last chance to order spirt wear! All orders are due by August 31st. See

Attendance/Absences: If your student is absent from school, or will be late to school,
please call the Attendance Office (986-1377) before 9:00am on the day of the
absence. We need your name, your student’s name and grade, and the reason for the
absence or late arrival. The attendance line is set up with voice mail so you can leave a
message 24 hours a day.
Checking Your Student In or Out:
o Checking In: If the student is checking in late to school, please call the
Attendance line (986-1377) before he/she arrives to indicate the reason for
