The Student Information System (SIS) - Genius is the first thing you will see when you login to your account. The homepage is called the “Dashboard” where you can view your “Academic Snapshot” which is a summary of your course(s). You can also view your messages, course requests, and admission status here. Contact the IndVA Help Desk with questions. Click the “Contact School” button on the left hand side. When you compose your message, be sure to include your first and last name as well as specific details about your issue and the name of your course, as well as specifically where in the course you are encountering a problem. The Student Information System (SIS) - Genius is the first thing you

will see when you login to your account. The homepage is called the “Dashboard” where you can view

your “Academic Snapshot” which is a summary of your course(s). You can also view your messages,

course requests, and admission status here.

Contact the IndVA Help Desk with questions.

Click the “Contact School” button on the left hand side. When you compose your message, be sure to

include your first and last name as well as specific details about your issue and the name of your course,

as well as specifically where in the course you are encountering a problem. Please do not contact the

Request your courses

You can request your courses by clicking the “Request Courses” button on the left hand side of the

screen. You will need to “Add New Course Request” for each of your courses. Be sure to choose the

appropriate term and start date. When you request a course, your counselor will be sent an email and

will need to approve your course within the system.

Contact your instructor

We have an internal messaging system in place. This is similar to an email, except you can only message

your instructors. You should be checking your messages every time you log in.

When you have a new message, you will be alerted on your dashboard.

Messaging is located under the “Messages” tab when you first log into your account. Note the folder.

You can switch from “Inbox” view to “Sent” view via this drop down box. Unread messages will show up

in bold text.

When you click on a message, the message will appear below your inbox. You can reply to that message

by clicking “Reply”, or………

You can compose a new message.

When you click “Compose”, a small window should pop up. In the “To” box, type your instructor’s name.

If you start typing the first letters of their first or last name, an option to click their full name should

appear, as shown below.

If you change the folder drop down to “Sent” you can view your sent messages and when the teacher

read your message.

View your pace schedule

Find out how many assignments you should be completing each week to stay on task by clicking the

“Suggested Pacing” on the left side of the screen. Keep in mind that the pacing scale updates each

Sunday night at midnight.

View your grades

Check out your grades by clicking on the “Gradebook” button on the left hand side of the screen. Keep

in mind that SIS grade book updates nightly so you may find that your gradebook in the Learning

Management System (LMS) is more accurate.

Drop a course

If you would like to drop a course, click on the “Drop a Course” button located on the left side of the

screen and request the drop. Please refer to the FAQ section of our website to view refund information

for dropping courses. If you are taking a course during summer school, please refer to your welcome

email/message concerning the last acceptable day to drop a course.

View your transcript

Once you have completed your course and your assignments have all been graded, you can view your

final grade by clicking the “View Transcript” button on the left side of the screen. You will also receive an

email with your final grade(s).

Pay for your course

To pay for your course, click on the “Make a Payment” button on the left side of the screen. This is done

through PayPal. If you choose to mail your payment, be sure to include your full name and which course

you will be paying for. Payments can be mailed to:

Please mail your payment with enough time to ensure it will make it to our office by the registration

deadline (which can be found on our website) or you will not be enrolled in your course.

Change your password

You can change your password by clicking the “Edit Account” button on the left side of the screen. Be

sure to choose something you will remember.

Start working on your course!

Get to your coursework by clicking the “Go to Class” button.

Learning Management System (LMS) – Buzz

Once you click on the “Go to Class” button, you will be directed to the Learning Management System

called Buzz. This is the place you will go to work on your course.

Under the “Courses” section, you will find your course(s).

Depending on the course you are taking, your assignments will be listed under each module folder in the

navigation bar on the left. For some courses, the assignments may be found under the “Assignments

and Assessments” folder in the module folder.

Login to your account, click “Go to Class”, and then click your course to get started!
