Dear Parents,
The Scholastic Book Fair is coming to our school on
April 23! I hope that you will be able to make some
time to attend the Book Fair. It is such a good oppor-
tunity to find books that will encourage your child to
read for pleasure. A home filled with books is one of
the best ways to support your child's growing ability
to read, and to succeed at school.

Math Tips for Parents from Dreambox Learning Find ways to practice number operations:
•Practice counting down from any double-digit number. For example, use a calendar to count down
the number of days to an upcoming event.
•Prepare for multiplication by helping your child think in groups. Ask “how many fingers do five
people have?”
•Try a variation on the card game “War.” When the higher card takes the lower card, subtract the
lower number from the higher number, and the player who won that play wins those points.

Students that do not have an email address were asked to inform their
teacher so they could get a hard copy. Fifth Grade Teachers will resend
this email again this week. If you are in need of a hard copy, please let
