In Christianity, the Great Commission is the instruction of the resurrected Jesus Christ to his disciples to spread His teachings to all the nations of the world. The Great Commission is one of the most significant passages in the Bi-ble. First, it’s the last recorded personal in-struction given by Jesus to His disciples. Sec-ond, it’s a special calling from Jesus Christ to all of His followers to take specific action while on this earth. The Great Commission is
found in the Gospel of Matthew:
“Then Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.’” (Matthew 29:18-20)
This command is the end of a Gospel and the beginning of faith in action for all Christians. This command from Jesus is significant because it’s a personal instruction for Christians to have a pro-found faith in Christ as indicated in verse 18. “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.” This is an incredibly powerful statement which demands faith in Jesus Christ, validating His power in the lives of Christians and their commitment to Him.
The Great Commission is a personal calling. In it, Jesus calls every Christian to step out in faith and spread the Good News. This is truly faith in action! People who obey this command change their spiritual lives forever! It could be spreading the Good News to a neighbor or moving to an-other country to reach the people there. It could be sharing Jesus with less fortunate kids down the street or spreading the Word in a town two hours away. Wherever we go, every faithful Chris-tian is compelled through obedience to share the Gospel. If you’re a believer in Jesus Christ, where has He called you to go? Who has God put on your heart to share the gift of salvation? What small or large steps can you take, with the knowledge that Christ will be by your side, “to make disciples of all nations”?
Knowing that He has called all of us to “go and make disciples…” is extremely exciting and why I am so thankful that FBC has the opportunity to participate in the Summer Outreach Mission Trip to New York City to assist the Journey church in spreading the Gospel. FBC’s team of 12 is made up of Pastor Bill Williams, Dario & Kari Williams-Vazquez, Melissa Williams, Deanna Freeman, Dixie Snapp, Tony Perez, Jackie Hillhouse, Mary Weaver, Nelson & Robbin Scherer, and myself. We will by flying out of Ontario Airport on July 19th headed for JFK and The Journey Church located in Manhattan. During our week in New York, we will be assisting The Journey in sharing the story of Jesus’ free gift of salvation at various locations throughout the city. The Journey has been em-ploying their method of sharing the Gospel for over 12 years. They hand out water bottles and granola bars along with an invitation to attend their Sunday services. Over the years they have had over 2000 baptisms, and a third of that can be traced back to this type of sharing! That’s in-credible and something that FBC is very excited to be a part of while there, as well as being part of the process to put that method in place here in Rancho Cucamonga. Imagine the lives that will be saved as a result! People everywhere need to hear about the amazing love that Jesus has for them and His desire for them to live their lives filled with His joy, peace, grace, mercy and for-giveness. As I said above, God’s Good News is for everyone, and everyone needs to hear it.
I’m so thankful for this opportunity. During this time the team appreciates your prayers of sup-port, and your prayers for safety during our trip. If you have any questions about the trip or would like to assist financially, over and above your regular tithes and offerings, please take a mo-ment to come and speak with me. I look forward to answering any question you may have. Thanks so much for your prayers, love, support, and faithfulness! Judy Rooze

Randolph’s Random Reflections
One of the paragraphs from the FBC Dream, our church’s vision statement, reads: “We dream of a church where there is a passion for see-ing the world changed and an investment of time, money and resources are joyfully given to accomplish this mission. We see a strategy that includes career mis-sionaries, short-term mission projects, and starting new churches.” There are two major reasons that this aspect of the FBC Dream stands out to me as I write this month’s version of Randolph’s Random Reflections. The first is due to the recent sermon I preached, I’m Free. Now What? In that sermon, we explored five in-stances of when the Great Commission occurs in Scrip-ture. As stated in that sermon, one way to think of the Great Commission is that God is sending you as a not-so-secret agent of His to proclaim the freedom others can have in Jesus as well. The second reason is due to the upcoming servant evan-gelism missions trip to New York that a dozen members of the FBC family are scheduled to embark on in July. While we do not want to take anything for granted, the trip will certainly be an amazing opportunity for the par-ticipants to see God at work in and around their lives. A trip like this will indeed be, and already has been, sup-ported by an investment of time, money, and resources. Prayerfully, these investments are joyful ones done in
obedience to God. I am excited not only for how God will use this trip to impact New Yorkers and the twelve who are being sent, but also for how God will use it to enable our church to grow in its passion for seeing the world changed by God’s power. My hope and prayer is that many more of us in the FBC family than the twelve will discover how we are empowered to serve in life-changing ministry in our city and world. So kudos to you who have the courage to share the gos-pel with co-workers and other associates. Kudos to you who take time to pray for and appreciate your neighbors. Kudos to you who interact with people who are different than you. Kudos to you who continue to commit to the Great Com-mission. Interestingly enough, the first line of the FBC Dream reads: “We dream of a place that communicates the Good News of Jesus Christ with passion.” In what ways do you see the FBC Family communicating the Good News with passion? In what ways do you personally communicate the Good News of Jesus Christ with passion?

God never intended for his followers to live
the Christian life separated from the rest of
the body of Christ. The church must provide
an environment where people can share the
real stuff of life and find support, encourage-
ment, honesty, openness, grace, and biblical
trust. The most effective way to do this is
through small groups.
Principle 1:
Every Christian needs a spiritual family.
Principle 2:
Every Christian needs a laboratory for life.
Principle 3:
Staying in your building limits your growth.
