25
What’s changing
CollegiatesCollegiates
have full voting rights
Senate Terms will be 3 years
LeadershipBased on
competencies not roles
RegionsNo more
geographical boundaries
26
What that means for you…
• Sections and section activities will remain the same• Communications will come directly from HQ• Both professional and collegiate members will vote for
next year’s Society Leaders• The Leadership Coaching Committee (LCC) will be the
primary connection to learning and leadership training• As a SWE member, you can attend any WELocal
Conference - no more Region Conferences• You can be a leader anywhere anytime as long as you
meet the competencies for the position
27
What this means for Region G
• Spend down liquid assets to achieve a $0 balance at end of FY18– Leadership Summit– Travel grants – WE17 & WELocal (tentative pending budget review)– SWE Logo table drapes for sections in good standing
• Revise our Two Designated Funds– Region G Judy Simmons Scholarship - modify criteria– Region G Leadership Summit Fund - still working with HQ to determine
what we can do with this fundo Option 1 - Create a travel grant for conferenceso Option 2 - Create a second scholarship to be awarded through the Society
• We will have a Region G meeting at WE17, but we will not have a Region meeting at any of the WELocal Events
Leadership Summit Task Force OverviewFY18
Elisabeth Lahrman
29
Leadership Summit Task Force IntroductionPurpose:The Leadership Summit Task Force is chartered with the task of making recommendations for the continuation of leadership summits under the proposed dissolution of regions. Society feedback has indicated the value that members place on leadership summits as part of their SWE training and face to face networking experience with peers. With that in mind, this task force will make recommendations to society leadership in order to keep the leadership summits as an integral part of the SWE membership experience.
Deliverables:The Leadership Summit Task Force will work through the fall of FY18 to prepare a recommendation for the continuation of leadership summits for discussion at the Annual Strategic Planning Review in early 2018. This includes a proposed schedule, timeframe, and attendee list, as well as the type of leadership structure necessary to organize the event.
30

• Q: Will LCC be taking over the Region Governor’s role?
• A: The typical responsibilities of a Region Governor will be divided among several SWE groups. LCC’s focus will continue to be training and consulting of SWE leadership, while HQ will own administrative and portal support. By WE17, a responsibilities matrix will be available to help clarify where these roles are going or what is being sunset.
• Q: What happens if I can’t contact my LCC Coach?
• A: In FY18, email the LCC Chair at [email protected] or your Region Lead at [email protected]
• In FY19, contact the LCC Chair.
