Time To Say Goodbye - Sarah Brightman and Andrea Bocelli

Welcome and Opening Prayers: Father Alan Jarrad

We have come together to thank God for the life of Jean

to mourn and honour herto lay to rest her mortal body,

and to support one another in grief. We face the certainty of our own death and judgement.

Yet Christians believe that those who die in Christ share eternal life with him.

Therefore in faith and hope we turn to God,who created and sustains us all.

God our Father,by raising Christ your Son you conquered the power of death

and opened for us the way to eternal life.As we remember before you our sister Jean,

so we ask your help for all who shall gather in Jean’s memory.Grant us the assurance of your presence and grace,

by the Spirit you have given us,through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

God our Father, you alone are holy.

Forgive us our sins and failures.Uphold us by your Spirit.

Enable us to show your compassion.Give us in our sorrow the calm of your peace.

May our grief give way to joy;through Jesus Christ our Lord.

    Amen.

Over the Rainbow - Israel Kamakawiwo’ole

    Reading: Psalm 23

The Lord is my shepherd:Therefore can I lack nothing.

He shall make me lie down in green pastures:And lead me beside still waters.

He shall refresh my soul:And guide me in right pathways for his name’s sake.

Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of deathI will fear no evil:

For you are with me;Your rod and your staff comfort me.

You spread a table before meIn the presence of those who trouble me:

You have anointed my head with oil and my cup shall be full.Surely goodness and loving-kindness will follow me

All the days of my life:And I shall dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

    Farewell Prayers: Father Alan Jarrad

God of all mercy, your wisdom is beyond our understanding.Look graciously, we pray, on all who grieve, especially for Jean’s family.

Surround them with your love, that they may not be overwhelmed by their loss,

    but trust in your goodness and strengthto help them face the future;

through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.Support us, O Lord, all the day long of this troublous life, until the shadows lengthen and the evening comes, the busy world is hushed, the fever of life is over, and ourwork is done. Then, Lord, in your mercygrant us a safe lodging, a holy rest, and

peace at the last; through Christ our Lord.Amen.

Holy and loving Father,by your mighty power you gave us life,

and in your love you have given us new lifein Christ Jesus.

We entrust Jean to your merciful keeping:in the faith of Jesus Christ,

who died and rose again to save us,and now lives and reigns with you

and the Holy Spiritin glory for ever. Amen.
