• 3)Signalprocessing.Sensorsgenerateintensivestreamsofdata,whichincludesequencesofnumbers,sounds,images,etc.Youwillfocusondataanalysisandsignalprocessingalgorithms.

• 4)Mechanicalengineers.Webuildactualphysicalsystems,andweneedtomodel,design,andmanufactureprototypes.

• 5)Engineeringexperiments Systemswebuildneedtobethoroughlytested,sothattheirperformanceisdocumentedandthedesigncanbeimprovedinsubsequentiterations.Examplesofsuchdevicesincludeanelectrostaticfilterforindoorairquality,awearablesensorforthemonitoringofphysicalactivity,andahigh-reliabilitypumpforthecoolingofpowerelectronics.

• 6)Technologycommercialization.Ourlabisheavilyengagedinthecommercializationofnewtechnologies.Manyofthesestudentswilltakeonaleadershiproleinanindividualprojectdirection,sothattheycancoordinatewritingbusinessplans,conductingmarketanalysis,securingangelinvestors,providingventurecapitalpitches,andassistingwiththeformationofnewpartnerships.

• 7)Appandwebdevelopment.Someofourprojectsarefocusedonepidemiologicalstudies.Inordertotestamedicalhypothesis,alargenumberofpeoplearegivencertainmedicaltreatmentsandtheirconditionsaremonitoredforanextendedperiod.Wepartnerwithmedics,forexample,formonitoringofthebehaviorofchildrenwholiveinhighlypollutedareas,toothbrushing habits,diet,exercise,etc.Eachstudyrequiresthedevelopmentofsmartphoneappstocollectandanalyzethedata.Also,ourwebsiteneedsafacelift.
