Thanks to a special edition of the popularTots 'n Trains program during the Santa'sTrain Shop season, attendance was good.
Thanks to our wonderful Operating Crew,we were able to offer a mid-week ride fora special reading of The Polar Express atthe second T'nT in December.
The chart (below) is of attendance figuresfor the last few years of the Santa event.While this year's weekend numbers werefar below last year's record, the additional264 visitors on Wednesday brought the holiday season at JSR to a respectabletotal.
Many thanks to all of you who shared yourtime with Santa this year. And our thanksto a most awesome Santa, too! You folksare one of the Museum's greatest assets.

In December of each year, the MTM is required by its by-laws to send a letter and a nominationform to all voting members asking for nominations for the upcoming Board of Directors’ election.The MTM annual meeting will be held in March of 2016. If you, or someone you know, has an in-terest in being on the MTM Board, either fill out the attached form or pass it on to who you wouldconsider a “Qualified” person. We are looking for individuals with skills in management, fund rais-ing, an understanding in business practices, communications and a passion for the organization.Make sure the forms are completely filled out and back to MTM by January 31, 2016. They maysend the forms back by email ( [email protected] ) or mail them in to "MinnesotaTransportation Museum 193 Pennsylvania Ave E. St. Paul MN 55130-4319 Att. nominations2016.Terms are for three (3) years with a maximum of two consecutive terms. We may have up toseven (7) slots to fill so lets put on that thinking cap today.

JSRH added to call-in centerWe launched WhistleTix for the use of JSR as well. We've had good success withthem last year, after we got some bugs worked out that were on our end.
For NO extra cost, above the minimal fee we were already paying for Osceola call ins, they will handle ALL JSR/Vintage bus/Minnehaha Depot & Osceola calls, for ANY information, on a consistent 8am-8pm basis. Along with the selling of memberships, and of course, encouraging any JSR phone ticket sales.Bus rental calls will then be forwarded to Richfield as well.
This will eliminate any concern with people trying to call in during those hours to get general info.We will be forwarding the main 651-228-0263 number that's on all of our marketing literature, to them.The fax will stay the same, and the secondary line that's available to call into the main office is 651-291-0074, which will ring right through.
The prompts will welcome them to MTM, but then give options for the 4 separate sub-divisions, and spe-cific info for each; ticket sales, directions, etc.
The call center also has our direct call in line, if someone is simply trying to get in touch with the office, alive person will forward them through to that number. - Erik Johnson

9. 1938 - Santa Fe Super Chief and the El Capitan were both express passenger trains on a 39¾ hour schedulebetween Chicago and Los Angeles. The Super Chief was made an exclusively Pullman sleeper car and the new ElCapitan was exclusively passenger coaches with a diner and lounge car. Riders were charged a slight surcharge toride the faster train instead of one of the line’s slower trains between the two cities.
10. June 1950 - 512. Grand Forks, celebrating the inauguration of regional service on the Red River Train be-tween St Paul MN and Grand Forks ND. The Red River Train was one of 3 started that year by the Great NorthernRailway. The other two provided direct international service between Seattle WA and Vancouver BC.
