BAPTISMBaptisms are celebrated following the 11:00 AM Mass or as scheduled. Parents having their first child are required to attend a Baptismal Class prior to Baptism. Classes are held quarterly on the first Thursday of the month at 7:00 PM starting in February (announced in the bulletin) or by special arrangement. Please call the office to register; registration is required.
MARRIAGEIn keeping with Diocesan requirements, arrangements must be made with a Priest or Deacon at least six months before the date selected for the necessary preparation.
PASTORAL CARE OF THE SICKPlease notify the office if a family member or parishioner is hospitalized, recovering at home, or in a Nursing Home. Visitation, Communion, and/or Anointing of the Sick can be made available to them.

Do you live your life in the way that gives clear guidance to others? Or must children
and friends look elsewhere for direction: to sitcoms, athletes and politicians? The Gospel
asks, are you the one to bring Christ to others?
Let us pray: That members of families strive to bring sight to those blinded by ignorance,
cleanse those who feel sullied by sin, hearing to those whose
ears are closed by pride, and joy to those affected by depression and loneliness.

I read an article in the Wall Street Journal recently that was rather disturbing, and I wanted to share it with you…
Religiosity, Church Attendance Fall SharplyBy Ian Lovett
Religiosity in the U.S. is in sharp decline, according to a study released by the Pew Research Center on Thursday, with the ranks of people who don’t adhere to any faith growing fast while church attendance has fallen steeply.
Christians make up 65% of the U.S. adult population, according to the 2018-2019 study, down from 77% in 2009. At the same time, those who don’t identify with any religion – often known as “nones” – now make up more than a quarter of the population, compared with 17% a decade ago. Only 45% of adults said they attended church at least once a month, down from 52% in 2009.
The data reflect a continuing social reordering that has seen the population shift away from Christianity and toward religious disaffiliation.
Some “nones” are atheists or agnostics, while others consider themselves to be spiritual but don’t adhere to a particular religious tradition.
Every age group, racial group and region of the country is less Christian than a decade ago, according to the study.
Less than half of millennials, the youngest demographic group in the study, identify as Christian; 40% of them are unaffiliated. The oldest demographic group, born between 1928 and 1945 and known as the Silent Generation, is 84% Christian and 10% unaffiliated.
Protestants fell to 43% of the population, down from 51% in 2009, while Catholics fell 3 percentage points, to 20%. Other Christians – neither Catholic nor Protestant – make up the other 2%.
Within the 26% of U.S. adults who are religiously unaffiliated, atheists grew to 4% of the overall population from 2%; agnostics grew to 5% from 3%, and those who identify as “nothing in particular” rose to 17% from 12%.
Non-Christian religions largely held steady. Jews remain at 2% of the population and Muslims are at 1%.

Green Blessings in a Backpack program would like to thank everyone for the very generous food donations over

OF ST. VINCENT DE PAULThank you to all who have contributed in helping the needy and suffering in our parish and the surrounding area. SVDP members visited 51 homes this past year, helping over 120 people. We assisted them with rent, utilities, groceries and auto repairs in the amount of $12,231.00. This is in addition to your generous contributions to the Giving Tree, Blanket Sunday and the Back to School Drive.

Thanks to everyone who helped with the Giving Tree this year. In addition to providing gifts to 100 needy children in Green, over $6,500.00 was donated in gift cards and cash. Your generosity is greatly appreciated.
CLEVELAND CAVS TEAM UP WITH ST. VINCENT DE PAUL
We’re excited to announce the Cavaliers Community Foundation has teamed up with the St. Vincent de Paul Society hunger centers to help us feed the hungry this holiday season. They are offering us tickets to the Friday, December 20th Cavs home game at 7:00 p.m. against the Memphis Grizzlies at a reduced price!In addition to your ticket purchase benefitting our hunger centers, all attendees will receive a Whammer Bobblehead. MASS INTENTIONS BOOKThe 2021 Mass Intentions Book is in. Please contact the Parish Office if you would like to schedule a Mass or Masses for the intentions of your deceased loved one or for the intention of someone living
in need of prayers. We may only schedule three Masses per donor at this time. Beginning January 2nd, 2020, when others have had an opportunity to schedule Masses, you may schedule more. The stipend is $10.00 per intention. To schedule the day and time you want your loved one remembered, please call 330-896-2345 or stop by the Parish Office Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (You can still schedule Masses for 2020, also.)

AVILA HOLY HOUR FOR VOCATIONSPlease join our parish community for an Avila Holy Hour for Vocations with Benediction on the First Friday of every month in the church. Our next Avila Holy Hour will be on Friday, January 3rd after the 8:30 a.m. Mass (9:00-10:00 a.m.). All are encouraged to come pray for vocations.

DIVORCED, SEPARATED AND WIDOWED CATHOLICS OF GREATER AKRONPlease join us at our ongoing support group to help those dealing with the loss of a spouse through death or separation/divorce. The meetings take place at Immaculate Heart of Mary Convent (1945 Portage Trail, Cuyahoga Falls) on the 4th
Monday of the month at 7:30 p.m. This is an open-ended support group facilitated by a counseling professional. There is also a general meeting on the 2nd Monday of the month (but not in the summer) which usually includes a speaker.
