In the 1700s and 1800s, Rye was the number one spirit in America, and for good reason: Rye grain was plentiful, and it made damn good whiskey. But with the enactment of Prohibition and the closing of Rye distilleries, its usage declined. Now, following decades of discreet existence, there is renais- sance in the Rye category as craft cocktail bartenders and consumers alike rediscover its bold, spicy character. Redemption is a brand with one purpose and one purpose only: to bring Rye whiskey back to its rightful place. THE RYE REVIVAL MEET MASTER BLENDER DAVID CARPENTER A native Kentuckian, whiskey has been a common thread throughout David Carpenter’s life. Grow- ing up, he admired old bourbon decanters in his grandfather’s basement. In culinary school later on, he grew to appreciate the connection of heritage and history between the spirit and his home state. David began his whiskey career as a craft distillery operator at a well-known bourbon brand, later becoming their Brand Ambassador. He then became the Head Distiller at a member of the Kentucky Distillers’ Association and produced bourbons, vodkas, moonshines, and brandies. Now, as Master Blender for Redemption, David is eager to pair his love for whiskey with a high-qual- ity brand that he has had deep admiration for. Seeing Rye as being both the past and future of American whiskey, he’s excited knowing that he’s yet to see his best whiskey and that it will be made with Rye.
