FORMENFOLGEN DER TEKTONIK IN MITTELEUROPA UND ZENTRALASIEN
Von Prof. H a n s S t i l l e , Göttingen

tektonischen Massive Zentralasiens ins Auge fasste.
2. September. Generalversammlung. Eroffnung der Tagung.
3. Sept. Thema I. Moderne geotektonische Theorien, ihre physiko-mechanische

“We were indeed sorry that you could not attend in person, but the fact that
the next Session is to be in your country should give you an opportunity to
pick up many of the threads that your absence from this Session forced you
to drop. <…> The groundwork that you laid in South Africa is
doubtless the primary reason for the selection of the USSR as
host of the 17th Congress <…> other countries clearly felt that you
had established a preference right to the 17th Congress for the
USSR, and when the invitation extended at the 15th was repeated
at the 16th, other nationals clearly felt that competitive invitations
should no be submitted” (Mendenhall, 1932-1933, p. 8).

a. Geosynclines and platforms existed during the whole Earth’s

2. These proved conclusions are equally binding for all concepts

solve some problems in the theory of

honour, and I am much thankful for such
respect”.P. 3.

Conclusions
The contacts of Hans Stille with Soviet geologists and
institutions have been developed as the scientific
cooperation within the activities of the International
Geological Congress.
The tectonic concept of H. Stille was the “geological
underground» in the USSR.
Ideas of Hans Stille have mostly strenghtened the doctrine
of fixism in the Soviet Union.
