THE ROTARY CLUB OF SANTA MARIA

President’s Message

THE ROTATOR

1. Professionals we consult with, e.g. doctors/dentists, accountants, architects, optometrists, veterinarians, attorneys, insurance brokers, financial consultants, real estate brokers/agents, engineers, clergy, etc.

2. Small business owners we use on a regular basis

3. Trades people, e.g. contractors, auto repair, welders, machinists, electricians, plumbers, welders, etc.

4. Home based businesses – contact your city hall, chamber of commerce

5. Business associates or vendors we utilize

6. Business associations and non-profits

Why did you join Rotary? Do you have a personal answer to the question “What is Rotary?” and “Why are you a Rotar-ian?” Do you have an elevator speech?

Does your community know the contribution that Rotary makes locally? Internationally?

Have you invited a guest speaker(s) to become a Rotarian?

Have you asked someone you know to join you at a Rotary meeting, social event, or community service project?

Do you have a process that helps prospects become Rotarians in a timely manner?

Expand the tent…women, ethnicity, age

Personally invite a guest or have members of the membership committee contact the prospect

Sell the cause of Rotary, not the club….the club will sell itself

Don’t be overly strict about attendance….50% is the rule

Remove barriers to membership

Adapt to the new world or get left behind

Credit for the above to District 5240 Membership
