Our most recent event was the “The Romantic Thailand Campaign”, a unique international project, which was launched in May 2015. For the first time, 122 couples from Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Azerbaijan and Georgia took part in this online competition.

Six winning couples were hosted to experience a fabulous Thai wedding ceremony and honeymoon. The entire trip through the best tourism attractions of Bangkok and Phuket was covered via social media in a unique new format of an online show.

To cater this product TAT ran the Thailand Extreme Makeover Reality Contest with the three finalists receiving the chance to win a cash prize as well as an all-over surgical beauty transformation from 15 August–5 September 2015. They were treated to an all-expense-paid trip to some of Thailand’s best resorts.

Suvarnabhumi Airport Expansion

The Airports of Thailand Public Company Limited is expanding the Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang International Airports to keep up with the growing number of passengers. The expansion at Suvarnabhumi Airport is almost double its annual handling capacity to 80 million passengers per year by 2020

while the renovation at Don Mueang International Airport will bring its annual capacity to 30 million by the end of this year.

In addition, Phuket International Airport is being expanded to more than double its annual capacity to 12.5 million passengers by 2016.

U-tapao Rayong PattayaInternational Airport Expansion

The U-tapao-Rayong-Pattaya International Airport will serve "one airport, two missions" directive, under which the naval-operated airport would serve both security and commercial missions. The first phase includes the construction of a new passenger terminal, which is expected to be completed in June 2016 and capable of handling three million passengers a year.

ASEAN Connect with our great connectivity and the opening up of ASEAN Economic

Community (AEC) by the end of this year, we are now introducing Two Countries One Destination” package to global travelers.

CAMBODIA

We will emphasise our connectivity with Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam. For example, we have just launched Chiang Mai-Mandalay-Bagan-Naypyitaw. We will introduce Trat-Chanthaburi, Sihanu Ville and Siem Reap or Phu Quoc Island in Vietnam.

As you might be aware, there was an unexpected incident at the famous Erawan Shrine at Ratchaprasong last month.

The entire Thai tourism industry came together like never before to work with the Royal Thai Government in restoring order and normalcy to life in Bangkok and across the country.

Thailand is set to further strengthen security measures as a prevention approach to ensure safety and security for the locals and tourists.

In order to reassure the world that Thailand remains a welcoming tourist destination, Thai authorities and global tourism bodies, including the prestigious United Nations’ World Tourism Organisation or UNWTO and the World Travel and Tourism Council or WTTC, jointly held a press conference to send a message of assurance and confidence to the world that Thailand remains a welcoming tourist destination.

A video titled “Bangkok Strong” was launched to tell the world that all Thai people are ready to be a good host and welcome all tourists to the Land of Smiles,

in response to the Royal Thai Government’s call for unity online with the slogan ‘Our Home. Our Country. Stronger Together.” And I can reassure to you again Bangkok is back to business. And Thailand will achieve 28.8 million international tourist arrival target by the end of this year.

As I mentioned above, we are here today as a friend to visit friends. Russia shall continue to play a prominent role in our inbound tourism industry. There remains plenty of room for expansion of the tourism business, particularly as we collaborate to cater to the high-income segment of this great country.
