The na� onal system for Special Educa� onal Needs is complex and it is essen� al that SEN Administrators have a good understanding of how the Children and Families Act and SEND Code of Prac� ce (0 to 25)impact on their role. SEN generates an enormous amount of paperwork, resul� ng in large administra� ve workloads for schools.

This, combined with the ever present threat of legal ac� on should procedures be incorrectly followed, has resulted in the role of the SEN Administrator in schools becoming increasingly important in suppor� ng the SENCO and SEN Team.

Natalie Packer is an educa� onal consultant specialising in School Improvement and SEN. Previously, she has been an Execu� ve Headteacher in Leicestershire and a Senior Adviser for the Na� onal Strategies SEN team, working alongside the DfE to support the implementa� on of the Achievement for All (AfA) project to improve outcomes for vulnerable learners.

Prior to this, Natalie worked as a Local Authority Adviser for Special Educa� onal Needs and School Improvement within the East Midlands where she was responsible for implemen� ng a wide range of cross-phase con� nuing professional development and suppor� ng schools with the leadership of SEN.

Natalie has developed and delivered na� onal training on a wide range of issues, including SEN leadership, Pupil Premium and outstanding teaching and learning. She receives outstanding evalua� ons from SENCOs, SEN Administrators and Senior Leaders a� ending her events.

Natalie is an associate consultant for nasen and the Academies Enterprise Trust. She is the author of ‘The Perfect SENCO‘ publica� on, an essen� al read for any senior leader responsible for improving provision and outcomes for pupils with SEN.
