I trust students and their families had a great holiday and are now refreshed for another engaging term of high-quality learning. The final term of the year is always an incredibly busy one with many activities already planned and locked-in. I encourage families to keep a close eye on the school calendar included in each newsletter to keep up to date with events around the school. The North Rocks PS staff and I wish every student a very successful, productive and happy term and look forward to celebrating their learning success throughout the term. NEW ADMINISTRATION BUILDING IS OPEN It is with great pleasure that I announce the new North Rocks PS administration building is now operational, and what a won- derful building it is! We are so grateful to NSW School Infrastructure and INTREC for the professional design and finish they have provided within this excellent facility. Our move into the building is progressing very well and we expect to be fully oper- ational in the next few days. As part of the building upgrade, the Department of Education has made extensive security upgrades around the administra- tion building. This includes security cameras and electronic door and gate access. Security cameras are recording all move- ment around the new building as well as access around the gates and front fence 24/7. At present, electronic gates will re- main open from 7:30am – 9:30am then from 2:30pm – 3:30pm and 6:00pm for the car park. Outside of these times visitors will need to buzz the office from the gates to be allowed entry to the front of the school. If you are already in the car park and the gate is closed, it will open automatically as you approach the exit. The pedestrian gate near the bus stop will remain open until cleaners close it after their evening shift and the current system for the rear gate from Don Moore Reserve has not changed. 2019 TERM 4 DATES Friday 25 Oct P&C GOLF DAY – Muirfield Golf Club Saturday 26 Oct Celebration Sing Out rehearsal Sunday 27 Oct Celebration Sing Out – Sydney Town Hall Tuesday 29 Oct NRPS Walkathon Tuesday 5 Nov 2020 Kindergarten Information Night – 7:00pm Wed 6 Nov Kindergarten Orientation Day #1 Saturday 9 Nov TSA Band Camp – Vision Valley Tuesday 12 Nov Band Demo Concert for Yrs 2-4

At this time each year some families move homes or plan changes for the education of their children in the coming year. If your family is relocating and you are aware that your children will not be returning to North Rocks PS in 2020, can you please inform our school office as soon as possible so that we can plan with accurate student numbers? This will help ensure a smooth transition into new classes is possible on day one of the new school year. 2019 MATHS OLYMPIAD COMPETITIONS It is great to announce that North Rocks PS has received official confirmation that the team from 6W has been recognised as the top team in the 2019 Maths Olympiad competitions. This award is shared with a team from Greystanes Public School. In order to achieve this, the students answered 25 questions across 5 separate papers with the winning team having the highest aggregate score of the top ten students. Congratulations to each of the following students who achieved a perfect score of 25/25: Krisha Batra, Joyce Chen, Gina Chen, Emily,Chen, Leah, Choi Mya Wu, Mikayla Young, Eamon Jia, Matthew Cai, George Chen, Jonathan Jin, Anthony Law, Jamie Lee, Justin Liu, Andrew Wang RETURN & EARN PROMOTION The school is very grateful for the community’s support of the Return & Earn Recycling program which has been in operation over the past two weeks. To date, three cubic metres of plastic bottles and aluminium cans have been collected all of which will be processed for recycling with the funds going towards updating the line marking of handball courts in the primary quadrangle. I would like to formally congratulate Eva Galayini of Year 6 for her passion in developing this idea for the school and her team of helpers for their drive in implementing this wonderful initiative. P&C GOLF DAY The P&C Golf Day is all set and ready to go for tomorrow under what is predicted to be a very warm Friday. This P&C fund-raising event has been a wonderful success and a credit to the extraordinary efforts of our P&C President, Mr John Bolwell and his brilliant team of helpers. A huge thanks to the sponsors for their generous support of the P&C and we wish the teams every success during the day. If you live in our school catchment area and have a child who will be starting Kindergarten next year, please visit the front office for an enrolment form. This will ensure the school can maintain places for all our in-area students. I would like to thank those families that have already visited the school and completed their enrolment details. FIVER FOR A FARMER A huge thanks to the entire NRPS community for their generous support of the Fiver For a Farmer program which was held at the end of Term 3. In all, over $4000 was raised which is a wonderful effort and will go towards supporting our good friends at Warialda Public School and the broader Warialda Community.
