vs Wyong at Gavenlock Oval Narara-Wyoming 160 lost to Wyong 8-168 The Lions sent Wyong in to bat hoping to skin a few Roos alive. Despite some tight early bowling, the Roos’ Captain held their innings together before a late surge pushed the score up to 168. Tommy Head (0-15 off 9) bowled tight without luck. Mick Turner-Manners grabbed an early wicket and with some luck would have had more. Matty MacCabe and Dan Richo each bowled well for a brace and with a bit of luck could have had more. It was debutant Lachie Head that was the pick of the bowlers bowling through the middle and at the death to finish with 3-35 from 9. A steady start from opening pair Joel Stuckey & Matty Nicholls had us 0-28 and tracking well. We then lost four quick wickets before Phil Anderson (19) and Mick Cross (25) had us 4-85 with 20 overs to go. Unfortunately we lost three more quickly to be 7-92. A massive effort by Mick Turner-Manners (48) almost got us over the line. Having pegged back the run rate after it hit 8 with two wickets left, Mick shared a great partnership with Matty MacCabe before a legside keeper’s catch stopped the run. We fell nine short with ten balls to spare. Another close one. Hopefully we’ll get ourselves on the right side of the ledger next time. Under 9’s White - Round 7

After a slow start with a few close calls, the “PYTHONS” have shown their true mettle with 3 good wins on the trot with all the boys contributing.

Alex & Angus are the dynamic duo, thrashing the bat but learning some good defensive shots, as well both bowling with accuracy.

Bailey is turning into a demon leftie bowler & hit the teams first six off the bat, Jarrah is our style master Mr consistency in all parts of the game.

Liam & Ryan are becoming great all rounders, timing with the bat & consistency with the ball will continue to see them on the up.Isaac has thrilled us with his reverse hook shot, his beaming smile & looping bowls whilst Chaz has shown the most improvement, throwing down some great bowling when you least expect it.

All in all the enthusiasm level is unequalled & all the parents can see the potential unravelling each week. Keep up the great work Pythons & keep working for each other as a team in the coming weeks.

Under 11 - Round 7 vs Southern Spirit Grammar Gold at Ettalong Oval

Narara - Wyoming U11 Cubs 3-89 - SSGG 5-78

The Cubs ventured to Ettalong oval to take on Southern Spirit Grammar Gold in a round 7 clash. Captain Rile Burke won the toss and elected to bat with Max (3) and Jack (20 not out) getting us off to a great start. The remaining batsman continued to keep the scoreboard ticking over with the team finishing on an impressive 3-89 after the allocated 20 overs. In reply the bowlers were able to restrict the opposition to 5-78 with Nick taking 2-4 while Levi and Riley also took a wicket each. The highlight of the innings was a superb direct-hit run out by Jack.Good effort Cubs!

Under 11 - Round 8 vs Southern Spirit Grammar Green at Brush Oval

The Cubs met the undefeated Southern Spirit Grammar Green in a round 8 clash at Maidens Brush Oval. The Cubs bowled first and got off to a wayward start conceding 64 runs in the first 10 overs with too many short and wide balls being dispatched behind square. To the Cubs credit they bounced back in the final 10 overs to restrict the visitors to just 35 further runs as they finished with an impressive 4-99. Man-of-the-match Kane Allen led from the front with the ball taking 1-2 off his 2 overs while Jack, Nick and Jake all took a wicket each.In reply the batting never really gained the momentum required to chase down such a hefty total and the Cubs finished at 4-48 off their allocated 20 overs. Top score was Nick with 12 not out, while Nathanial (7 not out) and Levi (5) also made valuable contributions.Onwards and upwards for the Cubs as they make the dreaded road trip to Patonga next week!

Under13 Green - Round 7 vs Brisbane Water

Today the weather conditions were good, not sunny nor cold. Kieren Montaser our Captain this game won the toss and decided to bat.

Thomas and Lily Owen opened the batting and we started off strong getting quick singles and a couple of doubles every over. At drinks (12 overs) we were 0 – 52 and looking to press on.

At the 15th over Thomas Owen retired not out on 31 releasing our Captain Kieran Montaser to the crease. Kieran batted well pushing quick singles and ended up batting right through to the end of the innings. Lily Owen was eventually run out for 27, my highest score ever and only 3 runs away from retiring. Leith Bar and several other team members then pushed the scoring up with a final score of 4/123 off our allotted 25 overs.

Brisbane Water after a short break went out to bat but with the opening bowlers Connor Fitzpatrick and Ryan Hunt bowling well 2 wickets shortly fell bring on fresh batsmen. The partnership lasted a long time but eventually we got them both out bowled and caught. Wickets began to progressively fall with catches to Leith Barr, Jaxon Forster and Connor Fitzpatrick.

Brisbane Water managed to bat their overs out, leaving only 1 wicket to spare totalling 8/70 making Narara Wyoming U13 Greens the winners for the day. Glory Glory to Narara!

Under 15C - Rounds 1 to 3

It’s been a good start to the year for the 15Cs - winning our first three games - each time sending the opposition in and successfully chasing down a score.

In Round 1 our bowlers did a great job, restricting Northern Power to scores of 90 and 96, with Riley Borthwick (4/3), Zane Montgomery (2/12 & 2/0) and Lachlan Fitzgerald (4/12) bowling particularly well. Lachlan also took a screamer of a catch at mid wicket. Our first innings chase was in trouble at 8-25 before a great partnership between Lachlan (42) and Riley (21no) saw us home. We fell 21 runs short of the outright chasing 83 from 10 overs.

In Round 2 our bowlers found it tougher, with Kincumber putting up a determined showing to reach 7/112 from their 50 overs. Jayden Fender took two wickets and two catches, while the rest of the wickets were shared around. Our opening bowlers, Lachlan and Ryan Jones, bowled 15 overs between them and had combined figures of 2/25. Our run chase got off to another rocky start before a fourth wicket partnership of 48 between Harry Moriarty (90) and Lachlan (24) got us back on track. We then lost three quick wickets before another good partnership of 51

between Harry and Mike Hood got us over the line. We played out the day being dismissed for 192 in the end.

In Round 3 we sent SS Grammar in on the hot day. Once again Ryan J and Lachlan bowled tight without luck. The rest of our bowlers toiled hard but we couldn’t break through so they ended up 5/172 from their 50 overs setting up a big chase. Once again a shaky start being 2/7 early. Mike (14) combined with Ryan J (49) in a partnership of 41 and then Harry (24) joined Ryan in a rapid-fire 45 run partnership to get us to 4/93. Liam Hassall put on 36 with Ryan before we lost two quick wickets to be 6/130. Antonio Peng (26no) then played his best innings yet to steer the team home with excellent support from Dale Fish. Some even tougher challenges ahead against other currently undefeated sides.
