Freedom of Speech

The right to express the things that you want or when you want without

having restrictions or censorship or both of

them is called freedom of speech. Many

countries do not give such freedom of

speaking. For example, United States give

limited speaking rights for defamation, insult, offensiveness, treason (speaking against the

government), Illegal act like bribery,

falsification, or stimulation to rebellion.

The media widely spread out news about fast food chain Chick-Fil-A and their President Dan Cathy’s speeches. He announced in a Baptist newspaper that concerns about Biblical principles. He also expressed his faiths in traditional way of marriage described in the Bible. “moving forward, we intend to leave the rules of same-sex marriage to the government and politics. Chick-fil-A is a company owned and operated by a family that serves the societies in which it forms. As he inaugurated the company, Truett Cathy started for working on biblical-based principles for managing his business.”

As a reply to the argument, previous Governor of Arkansas, Mike Huckabee formed an action of Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day for refusing Chick-fil-A which was inaugurated by the same-sex marriage activists. On August 1, Chick-fil-A restaurants have encountered a great support from the general people throughout the country as the company made highest sales on that very day.

Controversy of Resolution

A saying from the Chick-fil-A states: “The culture and service tradition of Chick-fil-A reports that our

restaurants treat all customers with respect and dignity. It does not matter what their belief, race,

sexual orientation, creed or gender is. Moving forward, our intention is to leave the matter of

same-sex marriage to the government and politics.”

lastly, I figured out that the result of the argument was not agreeable to me. I realized that the Chick-fil-A should stand on their own ground while dealing with the issue and not alter their position. The president of Chick-fil-A can be willing to express his own beliefs maintaining biblical principles, and he should be able to do so without having any fear of negative reactions from the people who disagree with his beliefs.
